Cav lost one point to Rojas and gained four on Gilbert.

He'd have settled for that this morning, especially given neither are in a pretty strong breakaway group. Cav's looking very good for green.

He's stated in interviews all he's after is a stage win. If he's in a position to chase the KOM jersey he will, but it's not a big objective for him. It's strange considering Cofidis said otherwise pre-tour.

Oh did he? Well a stage win would still be cool. Maybe he will attack on the Aubisque.

Is this supposedly his last season again?

Gilbert reminds me of Bettini. Great rider and winner but probably a little too hyper for his own good. He wastes a lot of energy at times.

I think he will go after the KOM jersey though. It seems strange it's not a goal for him. I think he will go for the stage win, then hunt the jersey, but by that time, it will be too late.

He may top the summit first, get 20 points, lose the stage and then go for another stage victory and find out that he will get himself both.

I missed the sprint. What is gilbert unhappy about?

According to Jalabert, he could have been asking the race officials to make sure Cavendish doesn't hang on to cars on the climb, which apparently he is known to do.

They were making fun of Cavendish for complaining after the sprint.

Not sure about the last season, but it is his last Tour de France. He will decide at the end of the year if he'll go around for the Tour again, but I think he will go for one more year and break the record of the Vuelta KOM jerseys.

Pathetic how Cav can even score more points than Gilbert in mountain stages.
No mountains so far today. You can't seriously suggest that cav could beat Phil on an actual hill.

Apparently he did it a fair bit in the giro ... Should have missed the cut but got a tow up to just make it

I wonder what he's discussing with race director Jean François Pescheux?

From the couple of words I could pick up, maybe the race handbook had the intermediate sprint closer to the feed zone so he was going for an early sprint thinking he was closer then he thought?

Seems kind of weak if true.

I understand he may want to win the jersey, and you don't want a cheater to get away with it...

but that sort of action indicates that you know you can't actually WIN the jersey, you are trying to disqualify the other guy so you have a chance. I'm not saying he wouldn't deserve to be removed if he can't make the time limit... but Phil does look a bit weak going to the race officials about it.
