riders have been dieing all the time. I didn't hear complaints after kivilev, sanroma or casartelli

I don't remember a cyclist dying without there being a lot of talk about rider safety - and I don't want to ever see one.

Roche must be doing it to put himself in the shop window otherwise there is no point in the attack
I suppose he's just frustrated that the Tour isn't going his way and he really wanted to do something in this stage. He appears to be ridiculously competitive.

Voeckler has had as many days in yellow as Ullrich and Giamondi, and if he holds today he'll have as many as Coppi.

This is looking very good for de weert and roche, they are closing the gap fast

well de weert is closing the gap. Not seen roche do any work yet. At least Hoogerland has an excuse with two teammates in the front group

Pinerolo finish in Giro d'Italia 2007 which British Eurosport commentators just mentioned:

Yes, but they have forgotten that stage 10 of the 2009 race had the most exciting finish of the whole race. Di Luca attacked on the climb and stayed away on the descent.
That was raced, without incident, in similar conditions to today.

Posting here today, because Eurosport appear to be on one, neverending ad break.

GC

De Weert is climbing back in to contention on GC, if these groups join toghether it will be hard to gain any time back by peloton until the last climb.
No one seems to be bothered about it thou.:mad:Another very uselles 'mountain stage' in this Tour.

I don't think Roche needs a good reason to attack. Being a fringe GC man imposed a certain discipline on him. Now that he's out of the GC running, attacks to nowhere would be entirely in character.

Although, to be fair, his little group are going like the clappers. They are a high quality trio, but I'm baffled that they are reeling in the break so quickly and that nobody has reacted to De Weert.

Apparently some of his stitches opened too, which caused slight inflammations. But the 2 team mates is the reason he doesn't work.

Big fail if the breakaway let De Weert et al connect. De Weert and Roche could do some real damage on the last climb.
