Seems there'll be a strong headwind. With a bit of luck that means aggression before Galibier, as it will be very hard making attacking moves on the last climb..

It will be harder doing a solo on the Galibier with a head wind.

That won't happen. There'll be a massive grupetto today with all the sprinters and a lot team mates of Movistar and OPL. If OPL hammer it at the start then there's a risk they'll eliminate Griepel and a few of his helpers. They won't want that with Paris on the horizon.

Movistar won't hammer it because they'll incur the rath of pretty much every other team who will have riders struggling.

Anyway, because there'll be so many in the grupetto the judges will probably extend the limit anyway.

How do you think the extra weight of the cameras will effect the OPL and Movistar boys.

Oft ridden over, the Galibier is as synonymous to the Tour as Zoncolan is to the Giro. There's only one greater mountain in Le Tour that's outranks it in prestige but that as they say, is another story (Stage 19's to be precise). This year marks the centenary of the first use of Galibier and the stage is a ripper.

The Zoncolan only entered the giro in 2002 ? How is that syonymous to the Giro ?

It is, and i'm sure Bassowill do well, but it would have been much better suited to Ivan if the stage was ridden in reverse finishing on top of the Agnel

I think Evans will stick with them till nearly the end but will loose a little bit on AS SS and AC.

I agree sticking with Basso might be a good idea as I think he will set a fast pace and just try and use up their energy to ease off the inevitable attacks later

It seems to be broken, the distance is well behind the commentary, which said 9km done in 11 minutes = ~50km/h. It is slowly fixing itself I think.

I also noticed that the intermediate sprint is in front of any mountains again. So Cavendish's jersey is all but secure. I can't see him finishing outside the time limit, if push comes to shove we'll probably see Velits pacing Cav.
