TJVG ended up getting passed by Chavanel at the end!

He's really going to have to learn to do his own pace, he did the exact same thing on Sierra Road in Cali.

He's young though, he'll learn.

i know he is only 22 but doesn't change the fact that some people here were hyping him to a possible win

I've noticed over the years that is what people tend to do on this website. Hype em or tear em down.

i do think so luke schmid. I believe frank was slightly less than a minute down on the peloton at the start of the climb plus he didnt have much help chasing back.

You mean support the guy that got dropped straight away today?

It's "only" a preparation race. Both of them aren't at full potential yet, so I figure he didn't want to go into the red too much.

We'll see how they go at the Tour, they're always slacking off prior to July at the slightest possibility.
Yes I mean that guy.

Andy always does the same.
Fränk isn't like Andy in prep races.

Leopard rode this mountain like a tour mountain, they will no doubt do similar at the Tour (this is what AC means by tour climbs being ridden harder), only they will have a capable leader at the helm.

And yet in the Tour people can attack from 6-8km out. I'm disappointed by this stage, but of course that does nothing away from Kruiswijck's stage victory. Though this makes me wonder why he didn't went with Cunego in the stage Sagan won. Obviously has the form.

Bad news is, Leipi can still win the overall I think. Unless he lost major time on other stages.

Andy tends to do that Frank doesn't unless it's a real nothing race like Cali

yup like the nearly exact team did in 2009 and 2010. I can imagine andy making use of the train and attacking all out.

Even TASK (the awesome steven kruijswijk) has lesser days. Or maybe days where he grants others their glory and whatnot :p

You seem to miss the word "if" in posts.

As in "IF" he could limit losses to Soler/Cunego to a total of 1:30-2:00, he'd have a shot at winning the overall in the ITT.

In the earlier, less steep climbs he was able to hang pretty close. Today he couldn't. I didn't see anyone saying "TVG WILL WIN". Rather that he could if he could hang on in the upcoming mountains.

It didn't happen. Perhaps he'll be able to TT his way into a top 10 spot... who knows?

There is no disliking toward BMC here. Just people saying it's a weak team. And that's what it is. They do have a strong cobbled team, but it lacks winners though.

they do not have a weak team after all they are 5th on the uci team ranking it cant be all by evans. they got a lot of top tens too. However I think that they are a team lacking wins but dont think they are weak.

Nice recovery by Tommy D after dropping the chain. Still finished 10th on the stage.

Yet the tour doesn't REALLY start for both until late in the second/third week. Being on peak now wouldn't exactly be beneficial, would it?

So, Andy being invisible as always while Frank takes it a bit easier too. I don't see the big deal here. If you take the 2008 and 2009 Tours, he has been consistently under the eight best climbers in those and has arguably improved over the last two seasons.
So yeah, he's not in the same league as Bertie, Andrew and maybe even Robbie Gesink, but I would by far and large not classify him as "overrated" on these climbs. Besides, everyone can have an off-day.

The Dutch ranking order is now:

1. Gesink
2. Kruiswijck
3. Lars Boom
4. TGBM

:D

Though I already like Kruiswijck more than Gesink for some reason. Even though I probably always write his name wrong.

it was the pace tho. Riders attacking would lose time here no doubt, zoncolan is different, it is so steep that it is hard to control, every man for himself sort of thing.

Ok thats a good response, ill give you that.

lol at bottle succking cunego's wheel till 400 meters to go . . .

That's the first time I've ever seen that giant head cut the wind in a bike race.

If he wins this race with a good time trial, I'll just sheet.
