I thought Piti tended to avoid all the Italian races. I think the last time he raced there was 2008 World Championships. I don't think he has ever won in Italy.

Is he making a 'soft launch' as he would expect to be going there for the Worlds next year?
Just a few Tirreno and Giro stages here and there ;)

Zaugg won´t do it this time. He had a series of Top10 placings in the falling leaves´s races leading to Lombardia 2011; this year, however, 8 minutes back in Piemonte and DNF for Milano-Torino.

Uran might be a factor, though 2 days rest isn´t that much. In general, it´s Italian ProContis against Lampre, Contador and Gilbert.

Shame that Rebellin isn´t there, he would´ve been Top10 contender.

BTW, anyone heard of Garzelli? End of career?

piti out of lombardy with the flu :(

cobo and pardilla in to cover for piti and amador who broke a bunch of bones on piemonte

I had also almost fallen of my chair, when I first heard that he would race in Italy. Seems like he had some second thoughts :D

Pinot wants to win Lombardy one day , i must admit i'd love to see a frenchman contesting the win in there. He will do well this one.

Anyway , i hope for Contador to win , just so that he get his monument win he deserves so much. It'd be also nice to see the great classic rider Gilbert to win with his fresh rainbow jersey.
And equally as great to see Nibbles getting also he first monument win on the italian soil.

I am looking forward to the sad ending of the season
