Shefer (Astana' manager) says that if the break falls apart, Gaspa might go for the stage.

Not Tiralongo? Now that he's one of the best puncheurs of the bunch all of the sudden? Oh wait today it's Gaspa's turn.
Astana is taking turns on which rider gets to win. This way I can't look past Kreuziger as Giro winner :)

Hard to look past Purito for the stage. Hesjedal will fight well and finish third, with Visconti in second. Basso to lose 15-20 seconds. Dark horse: Gasparotto.

And yes, what a gorgeous finish to the stage - thanks jens. I might have to go there and rent a bike when I go to Rome this summer.

Scaphoid is pretty serious, hard man to be continuing. But I suppose there are all manner of fractures.

anyone an idea how the run-in to the final 5 k looks like? narrow, technical? I can imagine nerves are present as no one obviously wants to lose unneccesary time due to bad positioning, especially with Rocca di cambio in mind, just before they hit the mountains.

I will say JROD but he might be tired from stage 9. He will take the pink jersey though.

Scarponi then Uran.

I'm expecting Battaglin to go well along with Frank.

If he's tired from yesterday's small attack, then he won't be featuring at all, next week.
Look to me as if he was just loosening his legs up for today.
Purito, Scarponi, Henao, Uran, even a Schleck type finish.
If they have to race in single file, any small gap could means a bunch of seconds lost.
Placement is key. Those in danger and need to be uber vigilant: Basso, Pozzo, Rujano etc.

I have given up on Frank. Wasted too may points on him as my fantasy team dark horse. Turned out to be another BMC old nag.

I've seen this awesome video, but that's one about the climb itself, while I was talking about the part before the climb ;) if it's dangerous, we might see some gc guys getting caught in the fight for positioning or even crashes..

Yes, no other way he could have found out about this video made by his teammate. I don't think seeing the film will help him anyway, that finish looks far too steep for him.

He could go on a break away 20km before the climb.....................

Not today. If Sky manage to form a breakaway then it makes much more sense to let Henao and Uran fight over the win. In any case, if all the riders read this forum then this tactic will be too well known now.
