You foreigners really need to understand cricket, to appreciate Pro-cycling.

Which is more impressive; finesse or panache?

My Indian and ****stani friends taught me how to play cricket. Great game, my initial opinion was completely wrong;)

I have to admit that I don't think it has been overwhelmingly interesting so far.

Well FYI I don't actually watch the flat stages until the last 15-20km (actually this applies to most stages so far) so the boredom is not so relevant for me :p

Still this Giro is 99 times better than the first two weeks of TDF.

Last year's Tour 2 weeks weren't that bad. How do you know this year wn't be exciting ? It didn't even begin

We can predict, but don't be so certain...

It is still a good race in its own right and like you said it is the best GT this year. The race is just a victim of its own success from previous years like 2010. That is the level of standard people are probably judging it at.

Just a real moutaintop finish in the first week. That's all I wanted to see

He finished 52nd in the giro in 2008 before finishing fourth in the tour that year so would have thought he will follow the same plan unless Hesjedal performs amazingly.

Yes, CVV will be riding for RH in any event. He said earlier this year how surprised he was at how riding the full Giro boosted his fitness. He knows this years Tour will be his last best shot. Nice Bloke I wish him well.

Not necessarily boring but not overwhelmingly interesting.

It also seems to be going on for ever today. Usually my live feeds kicks in with well under 100kms to go and this time it was over 100kms to go when it first started.

On stages like this watch a movie and tune in for the finish, it's what I'm doing :p

I did that the other day and feel asleep. Woke up and the race was over. Decided the movie was even more boring than the Giro. :D I need to pick an action film next time.

Well, if they reintroduce bonifications I am sure the race would be much more interesting to watch, it's just the fact that Cancellara can win the prologue and then keep the maillot jaune for a week without any trouble. Combine that with the Cavendish dominance and that's an ideal snoozefest.

Cav won't have many to help him though ;) Only Eisel/EBH and possibly Siustou and Rogers a bit.

Are you kiddin me, last years tour sucked in the first 2 weeks. Crashes somehow hid this fact. The Pyrenees literally nothing happened. Schleck/ac heroics in two stages made that tour appear epic. Their efforts were indeed epic (as was cuddles resistance btw) but the race was still far too dull, especially where it could have been more.

This, this and this.

There were really only four good days of racing at last year's Tour - the two downhill finishes into Pinerolo and Gap, then Galibier and Alpe D'Huez.

Back on topic - on this finishing lap, I think attackers have a chance, difficult to sort a chase out. Go Bak/Ballan.
