Do the velominati who are finding it boring long for the good old days of blood thicker than oil and elite athletes dying of heart attacks in their prime? But at least they'd attack from 10k out with a week still to race eh?
No way was that a gift btw

When someone like, say, Scarponi, feels tired, you can bet most of the others must be worse off. That's when he has to attack. Ask Hinault.
hrotha said:I've seen very conservative racing before. But waiting for the last 2 km of the final climb, two days in a row, at the friggin' Giro? No, sorry, that's a new low.

hfer07 said:Common folks!!! the stage was really entertaining if you weren't concentrating on the GC riders-I agree with the so called "Basso train" weeping the pace with super Szmyd, but heck that's his job & it's the only way Ivan is going to get results. Cunego did provide entertainment, so Pirazzi, Amador & all the riders in the chasing group. Rabottini put a great show-so Losado & Purito-thanks a lot for breaking away & give the GC contenders a lesson.
Yes, exactly. They're hoping they can win it in one or two stages, which is foolish, because they could be winning it now and not have to pray they don't catch a cold, get caught up by a crash or mechanical, or any other factor that could make things don't go their way on D-Day. This Riis School of GT Winning is seriously flawed.El Pistolero said:I feel just the same way.
How exactly is Basso going to win this Giro anyway?
Jrod can win stage 16 and grab bonus seconds. Stage 17 ends on a descent, so Basso will lose a lot of time there, stage 18 is flat. That leaves just stage 19 and 20. Plus he'll lose time again on stage 21 and he is already a minute and 30 seconds behind. They're really staking everything on stage 19 and 20 and I hope they fail big time.

That's why I'm hoping Purito or Hesjedal will win this, as funny as it would look on the palmares.
For the record, the stage itself was very entertaining, thanks to Rabottini and the Cunego group. But the contenders cannot be spared.
