Haha, Cavendish watching the replay and realizing live on TV that Guardini was just better and that he had nothing to complain about. You could see it in his face. Priceless. :D

Cav was ****ed at Guardini for hanging onto his team car up the Passo Giau.

He was hanging on to Cav's team car going up the Giau?

Was Cav angry because he'd lost his favourite spot?

By rights, El Pisti should be mad at this, since Guardini is so much less versatile than even Cav. Looking forwards to seeing 100 posts from him defending Cavendish's honour.

LOL, you could see him studiously watching it looking for someone to blame and seeing nothing.

Maybe he took after those Russian chess players from Simpsons (S9, E24). You know, the one that throws the board angrily and yells in Russian "Good game, would you like to play another one"

Wow, I'm still surprised over colnago though. I understand that big anger was A&S not getting invited, but colnago is at least no worse or exciting than A&S, so I don't understand the *****ing

I think a lot of people wanted a fairy tale coldeportes selection also.
And obviously A&S outraged the boards

Androni was obvious pick.

all in all the wildcards have done well. NetApp less so.

I think this means Guardini recovers better from climbing the high mountains. Most sprinters don't recover well which is why they go home. Guardini will now be seen as a real threat at the end of GTs.

Why does Saxo do this early train thing? Have seen that several times now.
Is it because they are not strong enough to move up during the real leadout, and at least at 3km they can at least show the team-colours for a minute or two?

Riis said at the start of the year they would use the first half of the season to practice trains for JJ. But they might have looked a bit too much at old HTC trains that just owned the last 5 k's :p But it does look like they are improving, so who can blame them *shrugs*

Yeah, Guardini peaked for this stage. Otherwise Cav would never have beaten him!

indeed.

lets face it, guardini still has a lot to learn, but when he gets it right... man he can be quick.

You guys could make millions with this talent. To be able to understand exactly what a gesture means from a poor stream with absolute certainty is a rare thing.

I'm watching this on HD.

That said, I don't think he was angry because Guardini supposedly did something wrong, but just frustrated he got his *** kicked again.

Seriously though, it's a real shame for Cav has he has rightly gotten a lot of praise for sticking out this tour and suffering through stages like yesterday. A real model for the other big sprinters and he has done the rainbows proud. It would have been great to see him rewarded.

I dunno about that. How could anyone make that call without seeing Guardini beat Cav straight like today?

since when do we need evidence to start believing in something on this forum? i think it started because of how impressive his sprints were on the tour of turkey last year against greipel, ale jet and farrar.

I am not saying that at all. He was simply the best today thats for sure , but you can just look his results at Giro and I didnt expected such results by him at all

http://cqranking.com/men/asp/gen/rider_palm.asp?riderid=10520&year=2012&all=1&current=0

he simply is that damn bad handling any difficulty on a stage, he says it himself, he has been reaching the last few k in sprints completely exhausted and with nothing left on the tank.

being this stage short and with a lot of downhill false flat he managed to get to the finishing line just fine.

Guardini is even more worse climber than Cav, you should bash him too :D

Certainly in bike racing you are going to have racers who are just better at lasting the distance and going over obstacles, but not as fast outright. Oscar Freire is at the other end of the spectrum to Andrea Guardini, and you can bet that Chris Hoy would mince up a 5km stage with a straight finish.

Cavendish is very dignified in this interview now to be fair. He has worked hard for the last 3 weeks and was beaten by a fresher rival who hasn't done a thing during the whole race. Anyone who thinks that Guardini is suddenly a better sprinter than Cavendish has clearly lost their marbles! Impressive win today though.

So true. Colombians are going to win everything next year, I think.

guardini is one of the fastest guys out there but how many planets should align to have him well positioned?that's his problem

Freire sucks at short stages though :D He needs at least 230 kms or something :D

Ditto and ditto.
Unless...
"Get out of the way Andrea, I can see my house from here!"
"Get out of the way Andrea, I'm trying to wave at my wife!"
"Andrea I'm really stoked for you, congratulations, my face may look angry but I'm just stoked!"
