I think he misses the point. Being upset about losing is fine, but being upset at the guy who beats you is just bratty.

How do you know he was? It's more likely he was looking at what had happened and raging at the situation.

If you actually watch a good quality replay of the finish, you'll see that he turns to face Guardini.

Yeah, strange that Saxo tryes to show there teamcolor / sponsors etc etc..
are you on call with the point of these races?? assume not´´ - if you really think its about a stage win on paper etc etc. / the main point is to flash you sponsors, who is the fundamental basis behind the hole concept of pro cycling

No it wasn't for sponsors... They sent Boaro out for that. Of course they do it to get a stage win..?

Saxo is either just still really green at this - which they are - and doesn't have the timing/riders to do the work properly, or they just want to make sure 'whoever they ride for' gets in a decent position for the sprint since especially JJ lack this skill. Every time they do quite a good job forcing the whole team in front of everybody - they just do it way too early. And that makes me think it's not really a train but rather a mission of getting the sprinter in a okayish position.

I did. Yes? That doesn't mean he was shouting at him. He's just letting it all hangout. He's very emotional.

Who was it who said "Show me a good loser and I'll show you a loser"?

Still, I hope he says something positive about Guardini afterwards

Very nice win by Guardini, I'm impressed.

Looks to me like Cav looked at him then went off as he lost and after all the work his team did I don't blame him, I don't think it was directed at Guardini. I guess we will find out.

While the win was impressive the stage was downhill for 150km.

Nah, if it was directed at Guardini at the moment, he realized he was wrong when he saw the replay, and on Processo alla tappa he looked disappointed but didn't say anything bad about Guardini. He praised him a little (not much because he was super bummed, but still).

Very refreshing to see someone beat cav once in a while.
Glad I had Guardini in my cq at least he got a stage.

Might even take some form and confidence from the Giro into his next races, never know :)

From that photo it looks more like Ferrari he's looking at than Guardini

To me he's angry at himself as the team worked for him and did good leadout and he didnt deliver.

Man Gibo Simoni still hates Basso.

When interviewed on il processo alla tappa today he refused to comment on Basso. Absolutely wouldn't talk about him, said he wouldn't and then when pressed by an insistent provocator, he responded by talking about Rodriguez.

The guy needs to get over it.

It was like a double blow to Cavendish because he needed those extra five points to have a decent chance of winning the points jersey. You'd fancy Rodriguez to take 30 points over the next two stages. Cav has always been a terrible loser, this is nothing new.

I can understand why. basso is the biggest traitor and liar since johan bruyneel and armstrong and he cost him giro 2006 win

Well, if he should be angry, it should be at his DS for not having Henao and Uran doing the work chasing the break, therefore tiring his leadout

Well, I've always though in cases like this one: he who is without sin cast the first stone.

In any case, Gibo comes off as a cry-baby and an invidious loser. Not a real (or dignified) champion.

btw ryo you said on pcmbenelux that Guardini would never win a giro stage and was the 'most overhyped mongol sprinter who can only win in langkawi' :p

what do you think now

Why should the colombian super climbers be wasted for a guy who can't even beat the 2nd to last rider:D

and come on, - if you can take the lead by a hole team the last 2 KM then the pace aint fast enough

Saxo got 5 place today with a secondary guy, now that Haedo has left in time for TDF..

I was not critizising. I was simply wondering about this tactic, and hoped someone with more insight could give an educated answer.

Cav doesn't mind complimenting Goss or Greipel or Bos if they beat him in a sprint, because he knows he's better than them. It's much harder to praise a guy who might actually be faster than you.
