For Horner and Kreuziger that would have meant they have to gain back time on Cancellara to beat Nibali.

Not really. Horner could still have lost 8" on Cancellara in the second part.

how far behind canc did nibali end up?

i would really consider this itt an indication of his time trial improvements as short itt's have always been something he has been good at, i would like to see his performance on a longer one before any conclusions. his climbing tho seems to have improved a bit tho, horner's and RK failures in the itt don't mean they weren't any good at the mountains.

How far back was Riblon before today?

It seems with him whenever he is climbing well his TT goes bad and the opposite.

He look really uncomfortable on TT bike as compared to Nibali being dialed in. A good comparison of position on TT bike. RK was a little upright catching air...
and going into the red.

none of them are very good in itt/ horner is also not great tit rider and he's never been. on longer courses he's better and don';t even get me started on kreuziger who sucks in every itt form except mountain itt a bit. his itt today was as pathetic as his racing this entire week

Nibali's time is 4 seconds faster than Gesink was last year. So he's about that level...

20 seconds - probably more than he can afford to lose in the Tour and still get on the podium (adjusted for TT kms).

Well Horner was 45th in the time trial. That has nothing to do with underrating Nibali but overrating himself.

Ofcourse, 8 months without competition might do that with him

Not that I had much faith on Kreuziger, but overrated as he is, surely he should at least have managed a top 30 or something like that. This is almost as if he came in the autobus in a mountain stage.
