Unless he's focusing to much on his climbing. Had Stage 4 been finished 3K at that grade with no flat. Horner would have won the stage.

His big mistake waiting to chase down Nibali on Stage 5. He was very strong then and only Krueziger could follow. He will replay that one a few times.

hmmm why?

Nibbles may have had some special time on that ITT course. He was hugely fast in the few technical sections and seemed to know the outer limits of the turns. Carrying speed through corners pays big. One you don't have re-accelerate as much and two your just faster.....

Home court avantage?

You seem to forget Sagan helped Nibali get whatever place he got on the TTT, and yesterday's stage bonus points, so be gentle with him. ;)
Nibali for the overall and btw, he won't need those seconds! :D

You were right he didn't need them....the Shark ate them alive :D

Still amazing that Horner finished 2nd with 0 race daysi n 8 months

Kreuziger is disappointing when it really counts. They really had no answer to Nibali in this race.

Agree completetly, at his age Horner is fascinating, Kreuziger doesn't confirm what everyone attends from him, maybe he earns too much too easily...

more like popovych 2.0 imo, reached his physical peak early and now will either start to lose quality or stagnate into a decent rider and top 10 GT material but far from contention

At least Evans ain't a quitter.

This....but one has to wonder just how Evans is coming along. Andy is always absymal early, Cadel isn't.

Nibali was out to 30 seconds, they nailed that back to to 10 sans the bonus. Nabali could have been caught and dropped if Horner would have reacted sooner.

I think he lack some confidence that he could not split up the group, but he and RK did.

Krueziger was the only one to stay with Horner. Even if Krueziger won the stage with Horner second it might of made the difference. I sure Chris is feeling foolish having stated that Kreuziger was the bigger ITT threat now. Hindsight is 20/20 vision though.

That's racing.:D

kreuziger produced his best GC GT result last year and now people make it sound like he is over the hill. The only thing that obviously got worse is his time trialing.

Of course his points score the last few years does have a certain tendency to it

Yep. Its early but I would be more concerned about Evans' ride today than what Schleck has shown so far. Not like he is going to quit in July

you do really that under those conditions nibali would have also raced differently don't you? simply put nibali was stronger and deserved the win on both that stage and the overall

sorry for papy horner but of course there is always a next year for him
nibali=deserved winner, showed as always balls and didn't wait for the others
kreuziger...i'm a big astana fan but this guy i don't know what vino saw in him.look at prati di tivo again, tiralongo is killing himself twice goes into attack,he's brought back dead.he looks desperately to kreuziger "c'mon captain it's your time, vai vai" and what he does?he puts him back to work in the front group even if he hasn't no energy left.kreuziger is like a valverde but who never wins.i hope tiralongo, kiserlovsky or masciarelly will be astana's leader in il giro.or even better, vino himself

Now that Evans has a Tour under his belt, he can afford a slow build up. There's less pressure from the sponsor this early on.

Get in there Nibbles!
The best man and the only one interested in not following wheels, after the TTT, wins.:)
(Kreuziger still the best looking, lousy ITTer out there.)

Last post today:

Horner should skip the Cali. No Serria road this year and no chance. He should race the Basque country, (if it happens) the Ardennes Classics, bow out of the TdF and race the Vuelta, where he could take a stage or two.

No. I am not saying it would be a certainty, but Horner waited too long and was stronger than he thought. Nibali does deserve everything because he took the greater risks in being more aggressive thoughout the race.

Purito said that Nibali's attack was alucinante, so I doubt it was a matter of 'reacting too late' or 'lacking confidence' instead of Nibali just being the strongest guy in the race. And those words coming out of Purito's mouth must mean something I guess;)

Great and deserved win for Nibali!
He was the strongest by a fair margin in every aspect.
That said I’m not completely sure about his improvement in tt, I think he still needs more work there.
