I think Menchov will fail big time. He has shown nothing at ITT this year.

why you say so? so far so good, and one of the best prologue he ever rode

Didn't Menchov win the National ITT?

Yes, does that make any difference ?

2nd guy in Russian TT was SOKOLOV Dmitry and 3rd KAYKOV Valery.

Do you know them ? I heard there are one of few of the best TT'ers in the world.

Sarcasm ;) :p

Yes, but it's only prologue. I admit that it was good.

Btw.

I think also that JVDB will be much higher than Nibali. Pretty high expectations that JVDB will make good performance.

Four riders (Wiggins, Evans, Menchov, Froome) from top 6 are also among World's best time trialists. I expected standings of such type after the first long ITT not before it. Who could challenge them? Nibali? Maybe but he is nowhere near as dominant as AC+AS were in the mountains TDF 10. It looks like the best time trialists is also the best climbers in this year's TDF. I guess stage 9 might be the most crucial day of this years TDF.

Monfort should do well. Finished third in Suisse last month and did this TT three times in his preparation. He will be motivated ttoo because he missed the decisive group today for just a couple of metres on the top of the last climb...

Why are Tony Martin in consideration? Isn't he in a mess at the moment with broken bones..?

Something with his wrist..

Precisely my thinking as well but the thing is that we dont seem to have heard from him since his injury so we are unsure how he has been dealing with it.

Patrick Lefevre declared today that he could go for the win. I doubt this is true, but it shows he is OK I think...

I can't see riders like Nibali, VDB and Levi end up before Grabsch when it's only the 8th stage. This TT is flat and the gears he's pushing works fine on this course and it's lovely to watch those 40 rpm.

What about Peter Velits? Does he have any chance in getting into the top 10 or 15 tomorrow?

I would say certainly going on his ATOC perfomance where he was poor on the climbs and strong in the TT.

Grabsch lost a minute in the flat 53km ITT in the Dauphiné last month on Jurgen Van den Broeck. I don't know if Grabsch wasn't motivated last month, or if he has been able to save his strength this week or not. But i think JVdB won't be far from Monfort tomorrow. Last month he only lost about half a minute on Froome & Evans. And while the Dauphiné isn't the TDF, it shows he has made serious progress.

PS: apparanty, Van den Broeck didn't want to attack today, and the Lotto team leaders really had to convince him. "But it wasn't planned yet" - lol.

I hope that delightful chap Wiggins does well. If he needs any advice before this important stage I think he need look no further than his own advice when he said, '**** **** and **** *********** you ****'. Truly inspirational stuff.

I wouldnt be surprised if Cadel beats Wiggins & Co in this time trial.

Wiggins may have the advantage of chasing Cadel, but Cadel will also be able to focus on trying to catch Nibali, so that should help him. Not that I think Wiggins will catch Cadel, or that Cadel will catch Nibali.

My prediction for the stage:
1. Cancellara
2. T Martin +20s
3. C. Evans + 30s
4. Wiggins + 35s
5. Froome +40s
6. Menchov + 50s
7/8. Chavanel, Van den Broeck + 1min
9/10. Rogers, Zabriskie, Monfort, Leipheimer, Nibali, Grabsch, P Velits, TJVG + 1min 10s

Martin could do well, he's been nursing his wrist and body at the back of the peloton every day, and a TT bike is less harsh on a wrist than a road bike. Grabsch...this isn't quite a flat drag race, but looks to be lumpy and a little technical. I think saying JVDB will beat him is quite reasonable.
I expect all the usual suspects to do well, and am hoping for a strong performance by those in the Top 8 who aren't named Wiggins and Evans. I think Nibali will be the surprise of the day, not normally a strong timetrialler, around A Schleck level, but I just get the feeling he's focussed and in the form of his life. Dauphine he let the leaders climb away from him, I think he rode well within himself in the TT also. He's now climbing with the best, and I think he'll TT close to them also. My predicition is he'll be within 1 minute of the winner.
