I'll have to watch the highlights again and look for Renshaw, I didn't see him at all.

Sky ran a pretty solid lead-out for Sutton but he doesn't have the speed to hold off Greipel and Pettachi for much more than 50m. I think Sky would have a better chance of winning if they were leading out EBH but I guess they would rather have him practice for leading out Cav at the Tour or something.

Greipel would have won by a much bigger margin if he hadn't been boxed in, he tried to go round the outside of Ale-Jet but had to hesitate and cut back inside, which is why it was so close at the line. The Gorilla always seems to have much better speed in the early season than all the other sprinters, I wonder what he does all winter.

Last year Greipel didn't make an impact on the Tour Down Under. In the TDF he showed incredible speed, but pretty much always came from far behind.
I think he always has the speed, but last year he was pretty much always badly positioned. This year they obviously worked on a good lead out for him at Lotto and before last year Greipel was at HTC and they were specialised in a good lead out.

spectators had nothing to do with it, who's the idiot that started this?

all the anon interweb people who wrote pathetic **** about her should be ashamed.

You asked who started it and also insulted people on here for having a go at her so I said nobody on here started. Pretty simple and I think you may want to make your tone a bit nicer, please.

Mate, are you serious? My comment; who's the idiot that started this? was directed toward who ever first aired that, anywhere. Who's the idiot is a broad statement, someone spoke before they had the facts.

Aussie bookmakers had Nathan Haas at the same odds as Greipel for the Tour Down Under. Unfortunately, he's now last on GC at 3:04. Anyone know what happened to him?

not sure which bookmakers you are referring to but I had him @ 101 for gc.
not a favorite at all with the odds i checked.

a specator was involved as they were hit and if you listened to the radio feed Peter Walsh informed the listeners that a UCI commissare had said that a Spectator was too close to the road.

I don't appreciate such an accusation.

**** that spectator!

hopefully you won't be so hasty to throw around insults next time

Anyway, good win for Greipel and I hope he can continue and get a few wins for Lotto-Belisol, also like the third for Hutarovich.

Clear as day on the radio but obviously completely wrong, perhaps you've answered my question.

You've got no reason to appreciate it, it wasn't directed toward you, are you OK with that?

Nope. Giant spiders scare me. So do ozone holes pillaging the countryside. I figure that for my own health I should keep a good distance away.

From the guy who trolls the SBS CC comments you're doing a rather amusing job of pretending you're not in the country. ;)

So Renshaw. was it poor sprinting or the confusion or something else that caused him to get 9th?

An exciting stage for me. It was my 2nd ever cycle race that i have been to along with the UCI WC in Geelong. Cronulla Crits don't count as fully fledged races.

The day was boiling and getting driven in the car i noticed how high the wind was. A bunch of 14 cyclists were at one stage going 20km/h.
We mistimed getting to Clare ( we got there too early 4 hrs ), so we brought water/ lunch.

We ended up getting heaps of freebies ( 2 whole family groups )- a total of 12 water bottles ( to go with 3 that we got at the Bike Expo ) the day before and various other assorted stuff along with 3 GE caps ( not the official cool ones thouh )

When we had first driven in i thought the 1k mark was the finish line so i tipped McEwan/ Freire. However by the time i reached the real finish i was tipping Greipel, Renshaw and Haussler ( glad i got at least one right ).

We got some pretty cool photos/ vids of the race/ presentation. We had an ideal spot for the sprint ( 40m to go )
The highlight for me was getting cold bottled water ( Adelaide city water sucks compared to Sydneys' ), seeing Sophie Smith, getting stuff signed by Neil Stephens ( GE DS ) and getting Mark Renshaws' water bottle ( with CHOC written on it ). The sprint was also great, congrats to Greipel and Petacchi. Greipel was really vehement about Petacchi.
The lows for me were the heat, having my prenomition right about a crash happening ( poor Guedson and Roelandts ), the wait and running over to the fence to see Greipel signing stuff. Just as i come over he starts to walk away ( i was devastated ).

Congrats to Dennis as well for his break.
And this is really late by me.
