Sucking Cavendish's wheel so he can get a jump on him in a sprint

I think there are two things going on with Goss. One is a pre season knee injury that has curtailed him somewhat. He was icing it at TDU but reported to be only precautionary. Second one is it seems that GE have held back his early season form to look at bigger mid season goals like TDF green jersey and the Olympics. As he does this GE are probably taking the opportunity to look at Cooke, Davis and Kroupis....maybe even to some of the classics races as protected riders.

Well done to Cooke, he was strong at the Aussie Nationals and also at the Tour of Qatar...would have loved to see how he would of gone with the Canceralla and Boonen group in Stage 3 or 4??. It seemed he was looking out for Kroupis who punctured and then went with the lead group only to puncture himself. Good to see him beat all but Sagan on a tough finish.

So it seems that Velits is in better shape then I thought. he could be up there for the win. He is pretty good on both hills and climbs so... I think Fuglsang will take it. (because Jrod loses time on a flat stage somehow)

Congrats to Greipel for yesterday/ even today.

Sagan did very well today but so did Cooke ( he could challenge at some hard European races later this year )

@Sweede: Nibali did as well ( though he worked for Sagan )

OPQS should cut their losses for Chavaenel and ride for Velits who looks to be in better form/ is usually a better ITTer.

Excerpt from Cooke, he and Goss decided on the road to back Cooke in second stage;

“Stuey [Stuart O’Grady] and Gossy put me in position,” Cooke continued. “When we hit the final climb, I was on my own. A few guys jumped, and I waited until 350 metres. I caught the two guys who had jumped before me at 300 metres, and I opened my sprint from there. Sagan went straight past me. He was clearly the fastest today. I went as fast I could, and I hung on for second.”

Cooke, who is now third in the overall classification, expressed pride in his GreenEDGE team that readily backs the best rider on any given stage."

Which is of zero importance in Oman, given there is no ITT this year.;)
I hope they go with Velits..........for the cq points.

Me too. Seems to have form, is naturally the better climber, and wants to win.

What's happened to the GC guys of the greatest team on earth, ACF?

Today's stage starts with 85km down hill so should be fast & furious, at the moment they're in the neutralised zone and Appollonio has taken a tumble but has raced back up through the convoy.

I assume he's talking about Pinotti losing 30 seconds. Either way it would be silly to expect him to do better as he was injured for almost the entire season last year.

That only counts when you're of Dutch nationality though.

Well it is a pretty dumb comment by theyoungest if he meant that. He certainly not out of contention by any stretch of the imagination but yes he has been badly injured recently.

I know. Just noticed you had him down as one of the pre race favourites ;)

(so did I, BTW. But just because of the total lack of climbers)

In todays break there are 4 riders with a gap of 1.25 with the peloton led by Sky, sorry folks no further info at this moment as this is the only tweet received so far, obviously very poor signal today.
