considering he had a 15 minute head start on the eventual winner . . .

Add the 12'41'' he won to his GC time and he's 13th overall, just 2 seconds behind Mollema, in his first GT ever, in a race that was almost all climbing :)

Is that the GC or stage standings? Does Porte get another 10secs?

Without the bonus time he would have never had the motivation to cling on and rise above himself...
So he would never finished at that spot without the break.

He did show awesome climbing today though. Wow! (much much better than even his best climbing before)

IMO, it'll be close between Machado and Costa in the TT. As for Porte, he's a galaxy away in TT talent.

Maybe he responds well to pressure. Sky have said all along they expect him to win these sorts of races for them this year.

considering costa and machado are at same time i think we can assume time bonuses haven't been added ;)

TTs, Porte vs Machado

Giro 2011, Porte wins by 30s over 26km
ENECO 2010, Porte wins by 41s over 17km
Romandie 2010, Porte wins by a minute over 23km

Porte is VERY good in the TT

Machado's interview:

"I thought I was the strongest in the group"
"Maybe I made a mistake by attacking too soon"

Porte has 50sec over Martin...

Panzerwagen in good form can take 50sec over 25k on Porte, but hardly in current shape. Still, a place on the podium is a good possibility.

I never said he wasn't very good. I know he's better. But Machado is good too and can put a good fight I think.

Being the first to attack on a group that still had a few guys. He even admitted it was probably a bit to soon to go

If it was one of those big galaxies and Porte ate it right before the off, perhaps Machado would have a chance.

It would be a close run thing if the it was Machado with the lead, but it's not, so it won't be.
