costa is also a good bet, although i don't really know how to rate him on short steep climbs.
Isn't that what Costa is best at?

Although, maybe his best quality is sneaking away. I mean the group that got away in Montreal was really the outsider group. If a guy like Gilbert tried to escape at that point in the race the whole peloton would be on his wheel.

Costa won't be able to sneak away easily anymore now he made a name for himself.

You mean when Cav crashes in a sprint in the Tour de Suisse, half his opponents break bones and sit out the rest of the season, while Cavendish wins 8 GT stages and a points jersey?

Lol nicely done.

well to be honest i was going to compare the malhao to the muur but then i realized that malhao is much less steeper so ya the climb actually suits costa, i had a brain fart :p

Ever heard about "The curse of the rainbow jersey"?
When Cav crashes in a sprint in Tour de Suisse and brakes his shoulder, there will be no need for his 6 helpers ;)

It'll be part of his contract that EBH, Porte and Froome will have to lead him out when he needs the bathroom when he's back home watching on TV.

Machado, because he has started the season well.

TJV was 2nd to Cummings last year though, so has got to have a chance.

I was lying in bed this morning thinking about the commentry on yesterdays stage.

When EBH won and Meersman came in at the same time, Kirby said that Meersman would still be the leader. EBH gets a 10s time bonus doesnt he, hence why he is now leader.

Is Kirby really this bad?

Meersman won the first stage and got a 10s time bonus. The reason EBH is the overall leader is that he has better stage placings than Meersman. That's what Kirby missed.

Cheers, I know Kirby gets some stick on here and does come out with some weird and wrong stuff like, but I didnt think he was that wrong.

If Team Sky wants one of their GC riders to win the hole thing they must distance Der Panzerwagen with at least 30s today? Must they not?

I would agree.

However, I dont think this race is that high on their agenda tbh. I think Wiggo is happy to see where he is at the moment and look at his numbers.

I believe you are right about Wiggo. But with so many GC riders on the team I guess they will at least try to go for the win. EBH and Porte should be in decent form since they have already done some races this year. EBH climbed ok in TDU and should do fairly well on a short climb like Malhao. He already has 10s on Martin and could also take some bonus seconds on tomorrows stage.

Good point, also Froome.

What does Porte have on Martin. I like Porte as a rider.

Not much, but according to Yates he has god form. Also, didn't he time trial pretty well last year during the spring season?

Not necessarily, any of Froome, Wiggins or Boassen Hagen (&Porte) can beat Martin in a TT if they're in better form than him.
If Boassen Hagen can stay with the leaders today, he already has a 10 second buffer over Martin & co and he has shown he is in decent form with more race days under his belt than anyone else of the top contenders. Probably wishful thinking though, as Martin must be favorite especially with a verywell drilled OPQ team.
