Froome is totally focusing on tour and so is not guaranteed for vuelta
Anyway if he can show anything like his vuelta TT and manage to become team leader then tour is probably best option

Are we talking about a guy who won a total of 0 stages in his last 2 Tours???

OK, I know he wasn't here blablabla

What did Menchov win since Giro 2009? Was he banned for 2 years as well?

Yeah I did but to seek revenge implies that you have been wronged. As I just stated to Florecita, he cheated and got caught, and is now paying the price.

It is a sad day for cycling and for his fans but you should all be asking why he would let you all down by doing this sort of thing.

Not being disrespectful here, just being realistic.

Sorry, didn't mean to imply that I was a Contador fan. Just thought it was relatively easy to understand what was implied by 'revenge'. Of course he thinks his ban was unjust, just like Valverde did, just like Vino did, etc. And, a good way to get 'revenge' is to come back and destroy the opposition. Even if you're not getting 'revenge' for being suspended. Remember when Cav got in trouble for his two-fingered salute after winning in 2010 at Romandie or wherever? Revenge, on the press, other cyclists, his father that hated him, whatever. That's what I'm talking about. It's not up to you, Woody22, to decide on whether Cav wanted to get revenge, or whether he was justified, because it's an internal thing.

Anyway, did you actually not understand what Hitch was implying or were you just playing dumb? Or maybe you're just understanding 'revenge' as objective whereas I was understanding it as subjective.

Either way, Contador's exciting and all, but I certainly don't feel like he 'let me down' by 'doing this sort of thing'.

I'm not the one saying he is going to win le Tour with 10 stage victories, and 2 hours in front of 2nd placed rider.

This is about the Vuelta :)

Remember the Giro this year? We all know how many stages Contador could have really won there.

Ps: I think Menchov got second in either the mountain stage or the time trial at Murcia. You got to be ****ed though, without Contador at the Tour in 2010 Menchov would have won for sure :D

Most spanish riders are already out in the media defending Contador, because they know that's the only chance they have of winning a stage in their home tour - Contador has to let them win. I think that if he gifts a couple of stages to those of whom are faithful to him then he will only get a couple of stages (like 5) himself, but that's still a good revenge.

Even without the ban, Contador would've done (and won) the Vuelta. But the biggest positive in all this is that we'll get the chance to see a top motivated and fit Contador giving it everything to win the Worlds. It'll be a spectacle, that's for sure.

going from cav to contador wearing the rainbows would be a massive improvement :p i approve this idea

I know it is about Vuelta. But I'm just saying that Contador is not so dominant.

And yes Menchov would have won that Tour w/o Contador, because Gesink, Freire and Menchov were leading the bunch while Andy was holding his hand on the floor.

He would have still won even if everyone waited for Andy on stage 2. There's no way Andy would have gotten that much time in the mountains without the help of Contador ergo he would have lost the Tour in the time trial. That's another reason why I don't consider Andy to be a Tour winner. Too bad Menchov rides for Katusha now though, don't like the team, but do like the rider.

And somehow Pisti manages to find a way to take a shot at Katusha even in a completely unrelated thread

Just accept that people will glorify Contador during these 6 months. Just like I had to with Valverde and the whole non-Dutch forum has to accept Dutchies will hype their young talents before they even show anything. At least for you it only lasts 6 months ;)

Awww, did poor Pistolet get upset at people talking about something other than Philippe Gilbert?

Basically, people overrated Valverde and hyped his comeback because they were desperate for somebody to at least give Gilbert a fight since he was so dominant. Could Valverde be that guy? Maybe, but probably not. But as a guy who had won some of those races who wasn't there when Gilbert was winning so easily, his absence became a convenient excuse for why Gilbert was so dominant, even though the chances of Valverde keeping up with 2011-era Gilbert were slim at best.

Not a Valverde fan then LS. I think you need to reread what you wrote there as there are many phrases up for argument.

This thread makes me want to barf, already.. Another 6 months to endure the so expected REVENGE of one of the biggest dopers in the cycling scene...
*PUKE*

Not only is this a statement without foundation, but it doesn't belong here. Take it to the clinic and I will explain why today's ruling makes you out to be a liar at best and a libeler at worst.

I'm sorry next time I'll mention Marianne Vos. If you don't like my posts, put me on ignore, otherwise stop crying like a little girl.

My post was a joke bro, I'm sorry if I hurt your little Valverde fanboy/girl feelings

I am a Valverde fan, but I do not realistically believe he would have beaten Philippe Gilbert in the Ardennes or San Sebastián in 2011. I think a lot of people (myself included) found Gilbert's domination of these races a bit tiresome, and treated Valverde as a kind of 'quick-fix' solution, because hey, these races were interesting when he was around, and not so interesting when he wasn't. However, Valverde's presence or non-presence was not the reason for this. Gilbert's being better than he was the previous year was.

I think he wins the Vuelta in dominant fashion and goes on to try and secure the World TT or RR championship. Then I think he turns his focus completely to the 2013 Tour. If you think the Vuelta is going to be brutal, I suspect he will have a lot more to prove at the next Tour (assume they let him actually ride).

EDIT: Btw, do we know the courses for the Worlds? Nevermind, I found them.

I hope he stays with Saxo, they fail to get WT status, and then don't get Tour 2013 invitation either.

Why does that sound so familiar? :D

To be honest, I don't think Contador is THAT stupid.
