lol Stelvio to have half a metre between now and when they are supposed to race. Gavia almost as bad. Seems like crazy weather for May?

Did Val Martello pay for the finish? Should go for Mortirolo criterium otherwise.

Hell, poor Acquarone and RCS. They did a great route, gathered relatively strong line up and such a fluke as a result.

Agreed. Not much they can do about this. Too bad.

There is nowhere in hell that they' ll be racing Stilfser Joch, Gavial, Giau and Drei Zinnen on the weekend given those weather forecasts. The Giro is basically over Thursday night!

What sort of gaps are people expecting in the MTT? 3 min between the top ten? More? I can't find a camparable one.

Yes, based on the results of the two MTFs so far that would be reasonable. Nibali/Evans might have a good gap and the rest shouldn't be too far apart.

Ok maybe 2 min. You could possibly compare it to 2x Col d'Eze although maybe a touch harder. Just over 2min between top ten would fit.

So basically without yhe final mountain stages only Evans could challenge Nibali, and realistically there would be too much for him to do even if he crushed the MTT.

Yes, Nibali would need to have a bad day and Evans a very god one if Evans wants to pass Nibali in the GC in that TT.

They need to swap the stages around, do the two Mountain ones tommorow and thursday, then put this flat one in before the MTT on the penultimate day.

Terrible luck if the weather effects the two mountain stages especially as that's where the race will be won or lost unless something completely unexpected happens in the TT but it's been one of the those races.

As far as I understand if the things don't change in 2 days Val Martello is going to be cancelled completely for the lack of other big climbs in that Alpine block? Or maybe they'll have to organize a flat stage... :(

It's all not going to happen. Snow will fall at 1000m.

And even so, I doubt it's possible to organise an entirely new mountain stage within three days or so.

Props to the race directors if they manage to salvage something out of friday, but I can't see it happening to be honest.

I hope, after the French Alps problems, they thought about solutions during the rest day. Maybe lombardia and trentino regions have been contacted by the organizers, and some back up parcours has been set up.
temperatures for Stelvio on Friday are -5 on top

So the conditions are not looking good.

We may not see Garzelli get the win he is after.

I would have been given Jackson Rodriguez a huge chance to get the KOM on Friday and Saturday on those bigger climbs. It's a shame for him, but good for Pirazzi as he'll all but have that sealed now.

Why this is not sticky anymore?
Also why the stage by stage analysis not sticky anymore?

Two very useful threads if you ask me

We had 8 stickies, half of them about the giro. It was way too much as it was pushing down the front page the normal threads so i decided to give priority to other races over yet another giro sticky.

We are big boys and i am sure we can look for this threads just like we do for every other thread.
