Sad to hear about Basso, looks like his times are coming to an end. But at least it shouldn't subtract from the races excitement too much, as he probably wouldn't have done much. And good to see Caruso will get to compete, he did well last year. And it was weird that he wasn't in the squad originally.

Am I the only one who feels like this Giro is going to be a big disappointment? The field seems weak and fairly uninteresting to me. And I have a distinct fear that Wiggins will take the lead early and then just hang on to it.

I really hope I'm wrong but I'm just not expecting much. Please surprise us, Samu!

I don't think it will be. There are a couple of guys who should animate the race, even if the central GC battle is dull.

Only two of the best climbers in last years TdF  What do you want more.

It's still much better compared to last year?

Even with Basso out, we have Pellizotti and Evans in instead, which should be better.

And instead of Rujano there's Betancur in, who should be much much better as well.

In the end everything matters on how much Wiggins will dominate the tt and in which way he will be able to hang on n the mountains.

Stilll, even with the same scenerey as in last year's tour there probably would be some entertaining mountain escapes like the ones of Voeckler we could enjoy.

Just take a look back at the Giro 2008. That Giro was all about Emanuele Sella. Without him racing wouldn't have been really entertaining, even with Ricco, Contador, Pellizotti, Di Luca Menchov in the field they nearly rode the same way as they did last year ;)

Di Luca and Garzelli will show something, Betancur will show MORE :D

Evans not for GC, but a dark horse, let's see

but for me all that matters is... GO RYDER!

Rujano was going to add what, to the race ? Basso once again would need a complete turnaround to be competitive but I still would have liked to see him in the race. I think it's shaping as an interesting race and the route is a good one even though the TT could have been shorter. Apart from Wiggins, Nibali and Hesjedal there are so many question marks about the other riders who could fill the top 10 or even top 5.

GAZZETTA TV IS BACK!!! (but it will stream live only outside Italy  )

Heh I was worried that it would be Italy only!

Enjoy the RaiFail :D

It's good news actually as means that it was an issue with Rai's rights which stopped the Gazzetta stream earlier in the season, means they haven't sold away their online rights to the international broadcasters too.
