Can't imagine Wiggins would much mind if he lost 5 minutes to him today. Depends how insecure other teams are, and how much Paolini thinks he can get up the climb.
I was thinking more about other podium candidates, but five minutes is probably no issue - if it's closer to 10 minutes it could be interesting.

Typical narrow-minded talk, if you say something positive about the Blanco guys you're a fanboy... it's only cool to be like us and bash them..... for some people there is only black and white.... Welcome to the wonderful world of the grey area.

Typical narrow-minded view, ignoring the facts about the the roads and all the other riders crashing and both going down exactly the same time and still pointing fingers "he's the bad guy"

ignorance is bliss?
+1

If anyone is typically Dutch, it's 18-Valve: overly critical of their own. Having a different opinion is not necessarily fanboyism.

Scarponi hit the breaks, something you don't want to do at that point. Was it caused by Kruijswijk's crash? Probably. Does it make Kruijswijk the root of all evil? Hardly.

I didn't partake in the Blanco bashing in this thread. I just said Kruijswijk caused the crash. I only bash Gesink when the situation calls for it. Not here, as he did nothing wrong.

Other riders may have caused other crashes but once again that's not relevant to Scarponi. He only lost time because of that one rider.

How is that even remotely realistic? I would be shocked if this break wins by more than 2-ish minutes.
I never said it was realistic, but if cycling was all about realism I for one wouldn't watch.

Nobody impeded Scarponi from making his own judgement about that corner instead of blindly following the riders in front of him. So clearly, he has himself to blame as well.

it was around stage three yesteryear that I went out on a limb and said hesjedal's gonna prevail. other podium contenders didnt take him seriously. it seems to me that he is either in a really good form and very confident or bluffing. we'll see, perhaps even today.

I think he's a contender for the pink, again.

I agree, I thought the same thing (this year, not last, never thought he'd win in 2012); I hope he's as strong as he looks and that he's not just wasting energy.

On scarponi he made a bike handling error of following the wheel rather than the road, and also never touch your breaks in a lean if you dont want slide out.

Today Sella is best in break, but hes not a threat over 3 weeks. I expect the break gets reeled in, awful long day for a break to stay out even if the chase is half arsed.

As much as I appreciated the effort from Ryder I couldn’t really say that he’s looking strong when none of the other riders were forced to respond. What he is looking is keen to make up for some lost time and hopefully we'll see more from him today.
