you can't be serious, no way!!!

you know a couple of years ago the Zugspitzlauf (Zugspitze= Germany's highest mountain at 2.950m) was started even though the weater was bad and the outlook for the rest of the day was not very good.

still, the organizer decided to start the race and the runners did what they came for - run

unfortunately the weather really did turn for the worse and it started snowing halfway up and temps dropped to below zero.
unfortunately N°2 the organizer wasn't really prepared for this, hadn't thought of bringing enough Thermo blankets and the like and unfortunately N°3 only a couple of runners were clever enough to quit and retun to the bottom of the Zugspitze.

the race ended in catstrophe - 2 runners dead, and a couple of people injured.

not quite sure if anyone concerned with the Giro would like to have similar headlines, as the Zugspitzlauf had back in 2008...

btw. even walking in minus 15°C + wind + snow (> windchill factor) is no fun, no matter what you're wearing.

Not only is the best stage of the giro cancelled, but now danish tv2 have replaced their transmission of the stage with "Flying Superkid - Around the world"...

I hate kids...

Are there no end to my sufferings today. ;)

If you hate kids, you wouldn't be interested in the Giro anyway. The only interesting battle is the one for the white jersey ;)

Best bit of Vini Fantini statement: they told Di Luca to make his own way home. Didn't even offer him a lift!

Actually I have, and if you don't believe me then that's okay because professional and amateur cyclists have been photographed and filmed doing exactly that for the last 100 years.

You're either trolling or lying. No way anybody who has raced a bike in freezing temperatures with snow can think it's reasonable to send these riders up a mountain and let them descend it in -15 degrees celcius and snow.

Also, there's a world of difference between 2 degrees and snow, or maybe freezing a little bit and snow, and -15 degrees. I don't know what country you are from, but either you're an eskimo and your build is perfect for standing the cold, or you're or liar or a troll.

I can stand the cold pretty well and I've been going for runs this winter in freezing temperatures and snow this winter with short sleeves and all, no problem, no freezing fingers or whatever. But on the bike it's a different story. Even on a flat course I struggle with the cold on the bike, even if it's only freezing a little bit. I'm sure there's a foto of some crazy amateur riding these mountains in the freezing cold and snow. But hey, wheather it's crazy cold or heat, the storys of sport events with amateurs in extreme wheather that ended up with some participants dying are abundant......

You talk Sh*t, it's - 15 plus on the Stelvio so when they descend it will be catastrophic. The thing that amazes me is you say they should go slow, are you for real? they cant even ride a steep descend in this weather you fool. This weather is the most extreme for years.

Like they say. Back in the day there was real men. Look at the video from Gavia 1988
