"Robert got ill during and espcially after the TT. His condition didnt get better during the night, this morning he looked like a corpse. The decision to take him him out of the race was already made before we heard of todays cancellation, though I dont think it wouldve mathered."

A rider needs excuses for choosing a different schedule? Interesting.
So what were the excuses for contador or valverde or froome not to ride the giro?

the excuse for Nibali not riding the Tour gets smaller every day

Yeah, he'll likely never get another opportunity to race a TDF after such an easy Giro, so far it's (barely) been a TdS equivalent, he should go for the double!

He has already said several times that his focus after Giro would be Vuelta and Worlds. No way can he do the Tour then also be competitive at the Vuelta and worlds.

He knows there will be posters around here to recall that the double this year is not a real double. :D:p

Best bit of Vini Fantini statement: they told Di Luca to make his own way home. Didn't even offer him a lift!
Good for them. They should make him walk home in the snow.

pffff. Show some respect to a former Giro winner.

Yes, because he's showed his team so much respect.

And ruin his form for this years worlds which not only suit him like a glove but are also on his home country

You people should get a grip, believe it or not, for some its not all about the Tour.

Saying that this Giro has been easy

Perhaps competition wise, but not fatigue wise for sure.

Damn, wish he could stay on the straight and narrow. Despite the fact that some of his posts are a bit ridiculous and over the top, he's one of my favorite posters. I always miss his perspective when he's not around.:(

Banned again, he seemed to be on his best behavior these past few days?

Thanks for your kind advice, what you probably do know though is that the Worlds are a bit of a lottery and it's rarely the strongest rider that wins, you can ask Cancellara about that. On the other hand it's generally the strongest rider who wins the TDF.

Well its not really acceptable to go around the forum saying that all Italians are a bunch of idiots. Too keep doing it even after being warned about it is just asking for a ban. . .

Tell that to the last 2 WC who were the strongest riders in both races. Every one day race is a bit of a lottery but so is the first week of the tour anyway.

Isn't the Vuelta with it's hilly route this year more a race to win for puncheurs which have also the ability to climb well, like Rodriguez, Henao, Sanchez or Betancur? Altough Nibali could gain some time in the short mountainous time trail. If he would be able to stay with the puncheurs on the short walls and distance them in the real mountains in would get a bit too obvious wouldn't it?

He wouldn't be Ryo if he wasn't banned this often. We're all waiting for him to get back, to have a shot at him. :D
