You can't possibly compare Boonen to Andy...

For starters, Boonen actually finished Oman, Paris-Nice and Omloop het Nieuwsblad(bad weather as well). He had 2 serious infections during the winter, give him a break. He has never cared much for Milan-San Remo anyway. There are more important goals for him...

well, then he should just leave without whining....

Nice gesture of solidarity from Lastras as he tried to get Fortin back with the other breakaway companions.

Yes, I agree. Couldn't express myself. This "weird stop-and-start 2-stage classic" thing is what bothers and annoys me most. In these conditions 252 km could be fine but not like this 2 stage way.

yes because losing your rhytm is very helpful
this scrrew your body and mental even more

Riders are not allowed to voice their opinion? RCS blundered here today, the riders shouldn't be sucking up to them.

The other stuff is correct, but I think it's more accurate to say he never achieved much (comparatively) in Milan-San Remo. Looking at his palmares it should be one of his absolute top goals imo, because it's a gaping hole in his list of victories, and not a completely unachievable one.

Would you really say winning RVV again or Roubaix would be more meaningful in his careers' achievements than a win here?

If a non Belgian rider had made those comments you would have called them pathetic.

If Cancellara had made those comments you would have been adamant he should be banned from the sport for life.

They are Boonen's own words, he has said it many times before.

And yes, he'd rather be sole record holder in either the Ronde van Vlaanderen or Roubaix and it would definitely be more meaningful in his careers' achievement than winning this race.

I think everyone should be glad they didn't cancel the race. Even like this, it will still be remembered as the 2013 MSR, and it's still a bloody hard race. Perhaps even more so than usual. It appears there's not much else the organizers could have done anyway.

Andy and Boonen can whine all they like, but I prefer riders who get on with the job.

Well, I should have expected you to say that, but I completely and vehemently disagree anyway.

Andy never finishes a race, Boonen does. There won't be many riders not whining. If this was the Ronde van Vlaanderen Boonen wouldn't abandon either. It's called priorities.
