Expect Geraint's team which is so sprinter heavy that it looks like an Argos tribute band (Cavendish, Greipel and Ferrari) to take daily honours on most flat stages. Not sure where he expects to get his GC points from though...

Falze is the only non-Froomite ahead of anyone who did pick Froome: I suspect that those 9 will continue to dominate the rankings.

Perhaps its inevitable with the limited budget left after choosing Froome, there is a lot of overlap in the Froome squads; apart from Froome and Schleck, the top 6 all share Nieve, the top 3 all have Poels, and the top 2 both have Gadret.

My team is essentially the collective wisdom team, using the same strategy, but the riders I agonised over leaving out, I'd be looking a whole lot better now. So far one fail pick Taaramae, i knew he wasn't on form, but couldn't resist the cost, and 2 bad luck picks, Bouhanni intestinal problems, and JVDB with the crash. Still a long way to go, but I don't have anyone who could surprise, I'm out of it.

It doesn't necessarily go that way: Rodriguez outscored Contador in the Vuelta, and Valverde only took 40 fewer CQ points than Alberto. Rodriguez outscored Hesjedal in the Giro last year.

If you consider some reasonable hopes in the current standings, if Van den Broeck were 4th in GC, if Pinot were 8th and Hesjedal 12th, Cunego 13th, De Ghent 14th and Taaramae 20th, bung them a few mountain point each, then the collective wisdom team would currently (after stage 9: I'm still waiting to watch stage 10 and avoiding the results) have about 1400 and Vladimir would be in the lead with about 1550.
The dominance of the Froome teams is largely down to the failure of mid price, mid ambition riders, and the fact that no-one picked the current 2nd place (Valverde), and only 2 have the third (Mollema), both of whom have another high price rider who is underperforming (Evans and Kittel).

Froome was not inevitably the way to succeed: it still might not be (although I suspect it will be).
