It's purely matter of simpathies and expectations. If before the Tour you didn't consider Froome the strongest climber...yes I agree it can seem not normal.

In fact, the mural we are observing is being painted on huge contrasts. Froome is an perfect form. Contador and Rodriguez are prepared in a very mediocre way... So we are doomed to see something like that..

I just dont know, several attacks on Ventoux, from really far away, without almost leaving the saddle and with high cadence... when was the last time that we saw that?

But since Contador says chapeau to Froome I say it too...

Froome too stronk!

Greg Henderson tweeted that there was a big tailwind today:
"Tailwind up the whole climb helped my watts per kilo guys so don't go getting too impressed by my time up Ventoux."

So maybe we shouldn't read too much into Dawg's time?

Where is the last 15K listed on that site with the times, I don't see it, lists 21.5K and top 50 times but no 15K?

Ten Dam said there was a headwind apparently.

So Froome was 15 seconds slower than Contador/Schleck in 09, plus he had a very helpful tailwind.

Don't think the clinic folk can take too much from that today. I'm beginning to think it's more to do with Froome's rivals being poor this year.

lol gap between Froome and 2nd >>>>> gap between rest of the top 10.

Yeah because Contador should be close with these other guys:rolleyes:. That's why it looks close because AC is not strong, he should be write up their. Quintana would be second if not for AX=3 and going from far outtoday.

That may be the case, but how unfortunate that it would appear to happen for two years, running, that Sky's competition looks less than stellar.

Plus that stage was uneventful, full of tactics and positional trackstands..

Looking at everything im starting to think that a fully fit Wiggins (2012) would probably podium this year. I cant see Contador out climbing him with the form he is showing and we know how much time Wiggins would put into everyone in the TT. The likes of Schleck, Evans, Purito, Pinot and Rolland have been very poor and Quintana needs to find a lot of time in the TT to become a real challenger IMO.

Nibali must be kicking himself, Had he showed up here he would be moving up a step on the podium from last years 3rd.

I think Nibali gladly takes his Giro over finishing second in the Tour.

I love how some Sky defenders address the clinic from afar knowing that they their arguments won't get countered here.

Take it to the clinic

But don't you agree that people post lots of clinic hints in this section and very little is said. Just look at the reaction after AX-3 and today.

I believe in innocent until proven guilty. If something happens in the future I will hold my hands up.

About that attack on Contador. Could the lighter gearing have been a way for Froome to extend the attack? Contador seems good at short increases in power, so Froome extending the attack for a little longer could be a special tactic just for Contador?

Come on Birdsong, don't mes it up today, please!

he's amazing, the guy shows absolutely no signs of suffering or distress.

Not a good tour for Valverde or Evans so far...

Is that why he was given oxygen after the finish line therefore delaying the podium presentations as filmed by Itv4

Well maybe if the mods actually stopped the clinc references critising them in this forum then people wouldnt feel the need to defend them in this forum.....

Feel free to check out the times for the last 15k and/or 6km, Richeypen

Also, you might want to investigate how 2009's stage was somewhat different to today's. Either that or continue your delusions.

So only 10 seconds faster than 2009 Wiggins and slower than 2009 Kreuziger

in 2009 it was the fastest ever beginning of the ventoux in history. something like 35 kmph until saint esteve. garmin and astana full gas
this time they went slow
about the wind...don't trust a lot the riders...watch the flags maybe..

overall proper showdown....unbelievable speed of the stage gotta say...i think overall the tour was ridden until now at 42 kmph, one of the fastest in history.

shiiit, that thread "most devastating attack" needs a revival haha. froomey just crazy. i found it fantastic that he didn't gift the stage to quintana, at least something was learnt from 2000. i hope he goes for it on alpe d'huez too

again, the low level of alberto and co is baffling, probably made his choice. ride with kashechkin la marmotte next year

overall the stage was above my expectations in terms of legendary status.

I think sensible people will not respond.
Probably CN should introduce a "LIKE" button in this forum.

Can the mod put a special note for clinic content in this forum? I think people haven't understood what was written in the sticky.

I dont have problem with clinic hints, as long as it is inquisitive in nature and doesn't necessarily imply clinic directly. I think I myself have asked about likelihood of clinic in this thread itself. But if i need to make a clinic post, i go to clinic.

lol Ventoux was stage 20 that year, they were doing trackstands and Froome is still slower, so no one is deluded but you.

Evans was so pathetic. Morabito could have finished with +3 or 4' and move up in gc might even overtake Evans and get a top 15 till the end of the tour but no BMC just lacks tactical sense. Up ax 3 Morabito had to babysit TJVG.. such a shame.

It's a pity that Nieve was also a victim of the echelons in stage 13 could already be in the top 10. But like this he has more freedom to get a stage next week.
