Yep, so sad to see that the rider, team, and doctors involved don't know what they're doing.
Remember when the doctors and the team allowed Horner to finish that stage a couple of years ago even though he had a concussion and was completely disoriented?

The team wants the rider to stay, the doctor serves the team, not the riders.

Letting Martin start is completely irresponsible.

Now how do you know?
How do all these specialists here know?

As far as I know, only Martin, his doctors and the people around him know his exact condition?

It's a friggin' concussion. It's simple, really: you shouldn't do anything but rest and be monitored closely for brain damage. In hospital.

Plenty of people get seriously ****ed up down the line because of concussions that weren't taken seriously when they happened.

Should we really be surprised that Martin is riding. Isn't this the same team that were happy for Boonen to ride with a concussion and it took other riders to point out that he shouldn't really be on his bike.

Considering he was twice unconscious yesterday I think he should quit the race. I'm not a doctor though.

He passed out on the bus and has a concussion. It was irresponsible.

some questions I would have though:

- is concussion the exact medical term used by the doctors, or did that maybe get slightly altered in getting the news through to communication/translation?
- was the passing out the result of the head trauma, or maybe related to blood loss, stress..? etc.

I don't have the answer to these questions.

It's irresponsible. He should not be on the start line. The risks are not worth it if he has another fall which is not impossible in the first week and on dodgy roads.

Agreed, people actually caring about a riders health.

and not at all making an intention process (does this term exist in English?, procès d'intention quoi) of all the medical professionals involved!

He passed out...yea, no concussion...****ing stupid comment :rolleyes:

Several sources today report that he has no concussion. Nothing stupid about that. There are several reasons why a person can pass out. Anyway, if he has a concussion after all, I agree that it is irresponsible. If he hasn't, then it's another story.

Their own site says "concussion".
http://www.omegapharma-quickstep.com/en/news/show/injury-update-tony-martin/1297

That's the info we have. Anything else is just speculation.
As for the medical professionals involved, several recent examples of reckless practices in pro cycling have been mentioned.

Doctors in cycling are known for always doing the best thing for a riders health! The bottom line is he suffered a concussion their own website says so, he shouldn't be riding because of that for the reasons hrotha and movingtarget mentioned.

If he has no concussion, then I agree. His team says he has one, so I am basing my opinion on primary sources, not what "several sources" are saying.

Think Kristoff will climb much better than Kittel. He reminds me kinda of Hushovd (best when the sprint is going uphill in 4ish %) How is he at decending?

Sojasun trying to force the four in the break to sit up for Simon.

EDIT - Didn't work. Simon is cooked.
