If you gambled on his form, he was a worthy favourite on the course, I think.

In the end he didn't win, but I thought he had a chance.

You are right, my bad because i missread your post ;) I tought it was the odds regarding this year's WRC. I'd place a bet on him for the Cauberg last year, also.

Kwiatkowski.

He had a break after the Tour. Now he has shown improving form in Plouay. He should be ready for the worlds. He can climb, he is good downhill, he is a proven classic rider. And he is also fast, if it comes to a sprint from a smaller group

Shocked nobody has suggested this yet.

Do I have to address you and ask for your permission every time from now on if I want to write something here?

I seem to be missing something.

Looks like I have annoyed you in some way.

Good:)

Hopefully big macs post above which shows I was right the whole time about spain not being the favourites, might annoy you a little more.

No, hitsh.
It was you who was upset, so you used derogatory term to address to me.
It just shows that you've realized the whole absurd of your stance, but just couldn't admit it due to magnitude of your vanity.

Have a pleasant day.

Have the Colombians highlighted a leader? I've not seen anything...

Normally the leader should be Henao or Betancur, but Henao is very tired(overtrained) so the leaders will be probably Quintana or Betancur.Maybe Uran will find Giro legs back but I doubt it.All Sky riders are overtrained.

Thanks. I was wondering as neither Henao or Betancur are setting the Vuelta on fire and I imagine Quintana may still tired from the tour.

On paper they have perhaps one of the strongest teams for the course, it would be a real shame if they didn't have anyone hit top form at the correct time.

Betancur might come into form at the right time though.

Doubt it, worlds are less than a month away and he is beeing outclimbed by everybody in this Vuelta.

After his ilness, his weight issues I think he is done for this season. I doubt that he will finish the Vuelta. Even if he finishes it is highly unlikely that he will improve so dramaticly over one month.

To pick with your form, 25 days before the scheduled peak you must be on a certain level of form. It is impossible to build your shape from zero ( which is the level Batancur is now on) to a level allowing beeing competitive in a race like we will see in Italy

Because the forum only gives 10 options.
On this years form cant leave out Quintana, Betancur or Henao and Uran's the dude who almost won the olympics.

In hindsight maybe Schleck and Contador could have made way.

I think whoever wins will need to have a decent sprint and Contador even with the mediocre season he's had will still be marked to closely to escape on his own. Andy not back yet to be a factor. Sagan would be my safe pick. :)

The parcours is perfect for Spartacus. Ok sure some cobbles would suit him even more. We might see some Vlaanderen-like performance. He is the only one that can launch an successful attack on every point of the course.
Gilbert, Nibali and Sagan will need a lot of support to resist a peak Cancellara.
