My lead is melting away like the snow in the Dolomites - a little bit every day. Agonizing. Need a miracle, something like convincing Petacchi to have a break in his 3 weeks Italian cycling holiday and actually try to contest a sprint for a change. More realistic is my hope that Rolland will do something great - win a stage and move into top ten. Dupont is able to move up ten places too in GC. If then someone else takes over Pink the 18 points get spread around a bit more. And if Evans holds his 2nd and earns some finishing points ..... - if all these things happen I might be able to get a podium. Long shot though. I should be happy wearing Pink for a few days and I am still wearing Red. Successful Giro, no matter what.

Seeing Basso struggling so much today, made me nostalgic to see another "giant" falling and I remembered that stage almost 10 years ago, those three were almost untouchable for me.It's close and NairoQ/HilltopFinisher have chances too, but still a long way too go, a flat/crash can change everything.
