My lead is melting away like the snow in the Dolomites - a little bit every day. Agonizing. Need a miracle, something like convincing Petacchi to have a break in his 3 weeks Italian cycling holiday and actually try to contest a sprint for a change. More realistic is my hope that Rolland will do something great - win a stage and move into top ten. Dupont is able to move up ten places too in GC. If then someone else takes over Pink the 18 points get spread around a bit more. And if Evans holds his 2nd and earns some finishing points ..... - if all these things happen I might be able to get a podium. Long shot though. I should be happy wearing Pink for a few days and I am still wearing Red. Successful Giro, no matter what. :)

Roche earning me 10 points for me today, at last.

all those who chose Battaglin have struck 70 today. he justified the buy. he has made up the deficit today wrt last giro. now he needs to make the choice count.

Rolland wasnt bad today.

Not a bad day for me, all the same except Rolland and Duarte gaining some points on the GC, but Basso doesn't look good at all.

Stage 14

Mainly subtle changes to riders' projected positions, with a few making bigger moves:

BATTAGLIN Enrico 93 2 teams
CATALDO Dario 52 4 teams
PANTANO GOMEZ Jarlinson 41 2 teams
ROLLAND Pierre 38 28 teams
ROCHE Nicolas 29 3 teams
HESJEDAL Ryder 28 15 teams
VUILLERMOZ Alexis 20 1 teams
URAN URAN Rigoberto 18 17 teams
MONSALVE PERTSINIDIS Yonathan Alejandro 15 3 teams
GENIEZ Alexandre 12 1 teams
SANTAROMITA Ivan 10 3 teams

BELLETTI Manuel -15 2 teams
PIRAZZI Stefano -20 21 teams
BRAMBILLA Gianluca -48 2 teams
SIUTSOU Kanstantsin -74 3 teams

I am the only team without Uran in the top ten. So all that needs to happen is for Uran to go down and Quintana not not to go up and I am all sweet. :) Probably my last stage in the Red Jersey :(

Roche came in 5th for me, and yet my position climbed by only one spot.

today's stage should shake some more people in the top-30. Hoping for younger Henao to do well today. he is 36th now. roche is 34th. if both are in the final selection midway up the climb, then only my position will improve.

I lost Martin in the first stage and my interest for this game was lost but I'm prety happy with the way my team is doing so far being 12th in the projected standings.

I'm really curious where my team would've been with Daniel still racing. Poels was also in my team but for some strange reason I forgot about him...

Riders with main points gained today include many riders who featured high in the selections:
ARU Fabio 155 40 teams
DUARTE AREVALO Fabio Andres 52 33 teams
QUINTANA ROJAS Nairo Alexander 52 46 teams
ROLLAND Pierre 30 28 teams
URAN URAN Rigoberto 29 17 teams
TIRALONGO Paolo 15 3 teams
KISERLOVSKI Robert 13 9 teams
HESJEDAL Ryder 10 15 teams
GENIEZ Alexandre 10 1 teams
HENAO GOMEZ Sebastian 10 14 teams
...
RABOTTINI Matteo -10 5 teams
POELS Wout -30 3 teams
POZZOVIVO Domenico -50 3 teams
KELDERMAN Wilco -51 2 teams

Big scores for popular riders means big points for all except those who eschewed the most popular choices:

Is that Azevedo leading Armstrong and Basso on Plateau de Beille in your profile pic? :) Amazing.

Also, it seems like you are going to win this.

Yes it is, 2004 :) Seeing Basso struggling so much today, made me nostalgic to see another "giant" falling and I remembered that stage almost 10 years ago, those three were almost untouchable for me.

It's close and NairoQ/HilltopFinisher have chances too, but still a long way too go, a flat/crash can change everything.

Too bad we all have such alike teams. Without the riders the three of us have, these are our teams:

Hugo87
BASSO Ivan (12GC)
ANACONA GOMEZ Winner Andrew (97GC)
MALACARNE Davide (30GC)

NairoQ
MONFORT Maxime (17GC)
KRUIJSWIJK Steven (OUT)
BOEM Nicola (137GC)

HilltopFinisher
DEIGNAN Philip (55GC)
PUCCIO Salvatore (98GC)
GATTO Oscar (122GC)

So it'd take a stage win or even more to catch up with you, which I don't really see coming from any of these guys. Another possibility is Basso starting to slide down in the rankings, but he's quite solid.

But indeed, anything could happen with any of these guys, so let's hope it will be a suspence last week!

Edit: @Armchaircyclist, I wonder where all those +10 points come from, for example Hesjedal, Henao?

After st 14, Henao was 36th in GC, 32 projected GC points: after stage 15, he was 31st (42 projected points)

After st 14, Hesjedal was 12th in GC, 112 projected GC points: after stage 15, he was 11th (120 projected points) and he got 2 for coming 9th.

Just heard Basso already had to let go of the favourites.. Wonder where this goes!
