Hejsedal??? You must be joking, he probably is the most hyped TTer among GC people, has he ever been in top 3 for a TT longer than 30K?

Back in the Giro when Hesjedal won, I spend post after post trying to communicate that... But it doesn't help. Trust me. Even after digging up pretty much every TT result in the years before. (That he eventually won it in the TT doesn't count, it was against Purito, poor poor Purito) ;)

It might also have been the Tour following up the Giro, it doesn't matter, the message never comes through.

I know! I just don't understand where does this myth Hesjedal being a good TTer come from? He is only a mediocre TTer among GCers.

Evans to win but the gaps to not be overly large between the gc guys. I think Quintana could struggle if he is still feeling slightly sore, but lets wait and see.

Evans will beat Quintana by more than 1min 45 sec, if not Evans may have trouble winning this Giro.

I believe to remember that this was a myth spread by Eurosport Commentators on English and German Eurosport.
Plus, I think somehow his name kinda sounds linke offspring of the Nordic Gods. ;)

i've seen nothing in the last year of TTs to suggest evans will beat quintana by anything like 1.45

haha 2014 is not 2013, in your logic W's 2012 performance will suggest he won many races in 2013, but we all know what really happened.

My conclusion is based my assessment of current condition of Q, of course I could be wrong. Like I said if Evans could not put a big gap into Q, his Giro might be in danger.

Adriano Malori wrote this earlier. I don't read the language. Can somebody tell me if he is saying he is too hurt to go for the win or he will still be trying? Cheers in advance gents.

— feeling mad.

LOL, singling out a year where Evans was on the long road back from illness to a Quintana who had for the first year shown himself as a true GT winner is a great comparison...not

Quintana's performance and result is the biggest enigma, I agree.
The tt course looks very good for Evans and Uran should do very well too.
Also, the other GC contenders aren't handicapped by the parcourse, I think.
So, huge gaps shouldn't be expected. Only accidentally.

What do people think about Boasson Hagen for tomorrow. Today was his birthday and he did not join the break. Was he saving himself for stage 12?

The same can be said about Pirazzi. He has had some decent ITTs. Anyone think he could pull off a good result?

Malori:

"Today was a day loaded with positive and negative emotions! I want to thank all the numerous people who have come from Parma to the stages of the Giro d'Italia! Goose bumps! Then …. literally they are destroyed by me falling in the descent Pass of One Hundred Crosses and this eliminates me from tomorrow's fight in the chrono! Thanks to those kamikaze who made me fall."

and this result happened when Evans was in one of his worst condition, I do believe 2014 Evans is much better than 2013 Evans

Thank you, that is what I have been saying all along. I don't think he has climbed as well as he did at Trentino since 2011. Hopefully after the TT Evans form for this Giro will become truth and not conjecture.

Bit of a weird one this one. Like the sprinting ranks in this Giro. Thin pickings. No real specialists more a battle of the GC riders. If Hesjedal has been sandbagging and thinking of a stage win I think he is a chance otherwise Evans, Castroviejo, Uran and Quintana to fight it out. Pozzo should also do okay but the next TT should be much better for him. Rogers preferred to do his TT yesterday but might do okay anyway. Sanchez will probably soft pedal and save himself for the mountains depending on how well he feels. I'm surprised people are mentioning De Gendt. He is actually in the race is he ? Weening and Kelderman may do alright as well.

De Gendt for the win, because he's been invisible so far just like the Tour last year when he came in 3rd and he didn't even hold onto the team in the TTT.

I'm looking forward to this as it is the first time we can see who is in form and who isn't. For me it's the field vs Quintana, and I'm hoping Quintana loses at least one minute on all the other GC riders. Nothing against Quintana, but if he's within 3 minutes going into the last week, it'll be too easy and boring for him. 3 minutes or more down, will take a few spectacular performances.

I'm sorry I don't completely understand. Is he out of the race or is he just not strong enough to compete for the stage win?

He is still in the race, Just not strong enough to contest this stage

My order:
Evans!!!
Kelderman
Uran
Malori
Hepburn (I hope he can ride well).

I doubt Hepburn will do much here, it's his first GT and he seems to be below his best. With Durbridge out and Tuft struggling OGE won't show well here.

If Malori has recovered, he should be top 3 at least. Otherwise I'm tipping Evans to be just ahead of Keldermerckx, Uran, Quintana, EBH, Bak and Castroviejo.

Hansen and Gretsch are my outside tips for a good ride .
