I don't agree at all with what Astana is doing. They should have waited. But it is payback for what Contador did in the 2010 Tour. He has no reason to complain after what he did.

Nothing should be taken away from Nibbles after the way he raced this first week. I'm really sorry for what happened to Contador, but the * thing is utter BS to me.

On RAI they're blaming Astana for pulling the peloton. Such idiots.

Why? They stepped up when the moment occured. Zero class.

Not that it matters though.

It is over for Alberto. No need for Astana to wait. He would lose 3 minutes at final climbs anyway.

Gallopin paying for yesterday effort, Tony Martin still pushing, like a boss

Tired of all the Vuelta comments. Yes, the overall level of competition, on paper, will be even better than lined up for the tour. But when we it arrives we'll have the often crappy coverage and no beautiful stage like we have today. Contador and Nibali were at peak form (and Froome too we have to assume) right now, had spent all year getting ready to be at this point, the mountains all lay ahead . . . Perfect scenario for great racing for riders and rich entertainment for us. We had it in front of us, right here, right now.

Just f$&king disappointing and Vuelta does nothing to change that.

Ofcourse they are well within their rights to ride but make no mistake, Astana ARE riding hard. You are naive if you think otherwise. Just watch the gap progression to the break.

The break is going slow i think. T.Martin is doing all the work by himself it seems. And after a 150 km almost solo ride yesterday i don't think astana need to drill it hard to reduce the gap.

He's still here because he's a warrior but it's over for me and we will see his injury tonight... :(

Don't think we can blame Astana or anyone else for riding here. Even if they sat up, Contador would struggle to catch them up here.

He's going to struggle to finish today & it's a damn shame.

Beating the best riders in the best condition gives a rider way more satisfaction, i'm sure that nibali really didn't wanna win it this way.

The tour isn't over but yea that's what people also said after the first week in the last 2 years....

they are not pulling, what should they do? stop riding? This is a race, and crash and bike handling are part of it.

They slowed, but the truth is, Contador is struggling (I expect he could climb off before the day is done), and Astana should just get on with it.

They were waiting for a long while. Then they shifted to maintaining the gap, now they seem to be pushing it a little more. They are ona a descent as well. So that makes me wonder if it might make it look like they are pushing it more then they actually are.

Anyone thinking Astana should lose on purpose 4 minutes on Kiwi just for an injured AC to get dropped like a stone on the final climb needs to start reconsidering seriously their concept of fairness.

Unless they decide to neutralize the rest of the stage, I don't see how Contador can compete on the MTF. It might be different tactics for Astana if it were a flat finish like yesterday.

They're not pulling hard though. If Contador was even feeling half good he would have had no problem getting back. If you took your eyepatch off you'd realise that. Machado literally just got back after his crash while Astana was on the front. Proving my point beyond argument

Regretably so.
We cant afford to lose any more favourites,

Astana weren't riding before the crash but they are now with still 80km to go. Contador is the only reason they are pulling
