I just hope there is no major damage to Contador. The Vuelta should give us the showdown that everyone wanted (Froome v. Contador) that we aren't getting this year.

this again? Im surprised by you seeing as you have been watching cycling for long enough. Every year theres all this hype about how everyone who crashes out of the Tour is going to have some superpeak for the Vuelta.

Never happens. The Vuelta has been won by people who skipped the Tour de France pretty much none stop the last decade.

If Contador somehow on a mysterious way manages to come back and lose zero time there's still the aftereffects of the crash.

The worst effects are the day after - eg Cadel Evans lost 0 on Morzine but 10 minutes on St JdM the day after.

Samu actually beat Menchov on Tourmalet but with a broken wrist bombed the tt the next day.

But for Contador tomorrow is a rest day, and the 2 days after that sprint days. So there is time.

It's not like Nibali is to blame either for getting lucky. Hell, he could crash out on the next descent himself, how lucky would he be then? These things happen.

It still won't change that his win will come against a field that didn't include the two best GC riders on the year.

Contador is in pain. He's not working hard to get back. Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if he climbed off.

It's not in his character - but I guess he might.

I wish Contador just gave up, what he's doing right now is really not healthy i think.

This tour is now game on and really competitive

Nibali vs a phalanx of Frenchmen with loose alliances ( Rolland vs Pinot vs Bardet vs Gallopin vs Peraud ) with Valverde sucking all and every wheel possible.

This is what we hoped for.

Contador loses time now. Too bad for the Tour that it is pretty much over. Or Porte has to step up now.

Alberto will probably climb off. It's shame considering he was in such a good shape. Hopefully it's nothing too serious and he gets back soon.
