Hoping for something similar to 2012. Geraint Thomas and Porte drop everyone, Thomas wins the stage as Porte gets yellow.

Thomas has crashed two times in a row.I dont think he is feeling too good..even if he is in super form he wouldnt be able to keep up with the likes of Contador or Nibali

One can dream :D No, of course I'm not expecting anything like that, I doubt Porte will be able to keep up with Contador.

But just imagine if that really happened... This forum would explode

Live report from Mulhouse. It's warm but raining cats and dogs. Cracking weather tomorrow though according to the locals.

ps seeing Tony in full flight 500 metres from the finish today was just something else.

pps the start rolls past our apartment tomorrow:)

ppps be nice peeps, I'm en vacance and I'm sure the other Mods are trying to enjoy the race as much as you are.

Bon Soire

People will talk about the duel between Contador and Nibali, while marsupial makes them all look like newborn "joeys".

From an ASO Pierre Rolland interview, "Tomorrow, I'll try to take it easier because I'm not super, I don't have the same eggs as in the Giro."

as expected, but if he does not want to hang on GC, why go out today? looking for mountain points?

I am not overly convinced by Nibali's climbing at the moment. I think he will be shown out today as not being as good as people think. I didn't tip him to top 3 with Froome competing. While that may have to be revised, I think some other GC riders are going to surprise everyone like Pinot.

I'm hoping Pinot shows well tomorrow. He's been at the point end, and should have some extra motivation. I'm thinking:

Contie
Nibbles
Pinot
Piti
Porte

Does anyone give Gallopin much of a chance of keeping the jersey tomorrow? If he can hold n he would likely keep it until stage 13.

How much time do you see Gallopin losing tomorrow?

The thread was only titled this:

"Mulhouse > La Planche des Belles Filles"

Believe it or not there is a reason why the threads are named: year race, stage: from here to there

It makes searching for them extremely easy as you only have to type the year and the race for all stages to show up by order on the search tool. It also clearly puts them apart from normal discussion which is helpful for new posters that don't really know where to go discuss races.

Obviously Zam didn't break any rule, but the least he could do is show some common courtesy and put the right tittle instead of that half assed attempt.

I don't think Zam was trying to show any discourtesy. While accuracy is good, I think you should chill a bit! He has been extremely helpful with his routing posts!

If today is raced in good ole fashion (and I think it's guaranteed to be), I think he'll blow up and lose huge chunks of time. Can't give it a number but I think he'll definitely drop out of the top 10.

Contador to stick on Nibali's wheel and test him from time to time and if he senses a weakness he is gone. If he gains a second he will take a minute!

Eh, I think Contie may take it to the max and put the burden of performance on the others. More culling, more psychological blows. With the rest day after, there is incentive to dishearten a number of opponents and let them stew on it.

We are talking about a guy who finished 20 minutes down on every mountain instead of being up there to help his team leader in 2011. If he beats said team leader now...:eek:

Eh? Do me a favor and find me one mountain stage with an uphill finish at the 2011 Giro or Tour in which he didn't lose at least 10 minutes. I've had a quick look and saw he finished 40 minutes down at one point:eek:

Wasn't he still eligible for white jersey back in 2011? If not he was still a long way from reaching the maturity he has now.
I'm sure you were following that team much more than I was but wasn't his job to set tempo on early climbs and then drop off? Or was he actually meant to be a super dom back then?

Thinking that is more likely to mean he will try to stick with the favourites, or at least the group of tier 2 GC contenders rather than go for another breakaway attack

The latter. And he was 26 so not eligible for the white jersey. Later, at Sky, Porte explained in interviews that Contador "simply didn't need him"... While that may be true for the Giro, he did need him for the Tour, and he was nowhere to be found. Well, 20 minutes down the mountain to catch Contador if he'd fall off
