Ok once again, explain what is wrong with this tactic

1) they know talansky is gone in the gc
2) the only thing to make something of the tour is win stages
3) you have a profile with 2 middle mountain hills, a terrain that suits Slagter and possibly navardauskas

what's wrong with trying to make the stage hard and launch slagter??

I seriously don't see it.
The fact that Slagter failed afterwards, well that can happen. But what is wrong with the tactic. Explain the thing I appearently don't see?

Dumping Talansky? He was done anyway, peloton would ride anyway.. So explain. Mr genius

Talansky may be gone from GC, but I'd say he has a better chance of winning stages later on in the big mountains if he's in a breakaway. So, why ride and risk an hors delai for Talansky in the hope that maybe, just maybe, Slagter can pull one out on this one stage.

That's just a dumb tactic on Garmin's part IMO.

I think it's debatable. Even if you ride hard, Talansky will still finish within time. It's not like he is going 0km/h. And if not Garmin, i'm sure another team would have rode hard. Cannondale won't stop pedalling either.

The only thing I don't get from Garmin is why not leave 1 guy with Talansky. They could've left Vansummeren with him or someone like that.

OK so just read up the whole thread (though difficult since things are happening meanwhile ;) ).

Garmins move cannot - IMHO can not - be excuzed by pulling the lead for Slagter. Unless you're 100% sure the victory is all in the pocket. Yes, Slagter is fine in this terrain, but 15 other riders are just as strong. And even with that, JV should still drop 1-2 man to help Talansky.

This is extremely demotivating for any kind of rider, and devastating for the team morale.

Dream. Nibali attacks and Sagan joining him on descent to win his first stage. Nibali gets 10 seconds on competition. :) I know. It is not worth the risk. :)

It would be fitting for the this years Tour, if Nibali does attack on the descent, crashes and is DNF. I think he'll take it easy.

Ok. Before you were calling everyone stupid.
Now you're saying the strategy is debatable.

My advice would be for you to stop and think about alternate strategies before you act like a total tool. A bit of humility won't hurt you.

Garmin's behavior today was rather ridiculous, but it could have paid off, I suppose. But they risked losing Talansky for the entire Tour.

Well I differ in thought of what Talansky can bring. I think he is so bad right now that I'm pretty sure he is worthless for the rest of the Tour. I don't think he stands a chance of recovering in time to be good in this Tour. So if anything it's dumb, it's letting Talansky ride on. But that's my opinion.
