Did some of Kittel's train get dropped? I'm struggling to understand why Lotto has on the gas.

Ji Cheng and Devenyns have been dropped, but they won't be needed much anymore today anyway, don't know about others.

Why is Cassel not a classified climb?

I would guess because it is insignificant compared to the other climbs across the 3 weeks. Plenty of big 'wee' bumps weren't categorised in Yorkshire.

My tactical nous is not great, but I don't see the point of Cannondale/Lotto driving here. Kwiat isn't a threat to either of their interest.

EDIT: Looks like they turned the gas off.

Izagirres handlebars(?) broke just as Froome crashed: http://imgur.com/a8w2dqO
How does this happen on a modern race bike on a flat stretch and why did it happen just as Froome went down when Izagirre was nowhere near him

Maybe trying to drop some of Kittels lead out men?

That's probably makes the most sense.

I wondered about that as well, but none of them were dropped.

In any event, the fun appears to be over :(

Apparently 4 SKY riders in the Purito group..

With a bruised Froome (strong wind?) somebody could be cynical and try to do something..

Wild. It's hard to believe that Movistar's mechanic would make the mistake of crushing a steering tube, so just plain old structural failure?
