What's happened? Has Wiggins decided to pull out of California in order to make an attempt at the (third of an) hour record or something, and Eurosport are covering that rather than the race? It's as if they've not noticed that there's a 2.HC stage race going on.

Well today is the final stage of the race so Wiggins will have his championship after today right?

I am also hoping for rain the rest of the week in California, especially if they have to go down some hills.

How is it possible that Wiggins is that much faster?

40 seconds for one of the top 4 in the world over a decent but not particularly special field is pretty ordinary on this sort of course.

Phinney doesn't look nearly as fast as Wiggins. I don't know if he's turning a heavier gear, but it sure looks like it.

Given the field this year, putting the time trial on the second day is going to suck a good bit of the excitement from the race. Wiggins is probably going to have at least 2 minutes over most of his competitors by the end of today and the Sky train will just ride tempo for the next few days.
