No, because Evans is 37-38 years old, while Contador is 31. A rider in his late 30s on the cusp of retiring. Going by his results this year, Contador is still in his prime. 2013 was an off year, obviously as he posted no notable results for the entire season. 2014 Contador has shown little difference in ability as to the 2007-11 Contador. He's still near the top of his game.

so evans is a better rider than horner because evans is 37 and horner is 41?

No, its because he beats him on every single uphill finish, dropped him twice already in this Vuelta alone, is far superior in ITT, much more exciting rider.....
anything else I forgot?

Oh yeah, all that with Nairo having perfect preparation, no injuries, prep race, etc. while Berto comes off of an injury after which it wasnt even certain he will be able to ride the Vuelta.

Seriously man, what the hell are you trying to say here......

lol @ you thinking contador was seirously injured. he couldn't continue the tour yes but he sure as hell didn't break anything.

Yeah spot on. I mean he has next to no experience in managing his form in a GT. :p

like it's videogame where you press on a button so your form doesn't decline

also quintana doesn't feel well. his knee his hurt and he probbaly won't start tomorrow

This would be a bit bad for the race imo, not because he can win, but because without him Movistar can't play any real tactical games.

Hopefully he will start and hang around for a few stages...

Very good performances from Samu and Evans - I didn't expect that (especially Cadel). Such form suggests Evans might now be a dark horse for the worlds. I can't see of any other reason why he'd ride such a strong TT when he is way down on GC and supposedly riding in support of Samu. Interesting to see how both Samu and Evans progress from here in the mountains. Also I note Uran confirming his TT form from the Giro.

I was wondering about the BMC bikes. I didn't expect neither rider to finish this high. Maybe Gesink should get one :D

I was just thinking that this could very well be the final podium.

We could also easily see Froome in 4th and Gesink in 6th, just like in 2012. Probably not Moreno in 5th, however.

Both are excellent bike riders so in a technical course as this, they are bound to perform well to some extent. And Evans has probably held back a couple of stages not and maybe tested himself today. But indeed great rides from both of them! :)

lol @ you responding to only one part of a post.
Contador> Quintana in every single race (hell, every single stage) in 2014, even when his preparation was far from optimal. Those are facts.

best stage so far, pretty dramatic stuff

no way is vuelta over, not even for nairo, he can bounce back big time
also, looking at the way he recovered, samu sanchez can be a big danger for podium i think. i think froome will go worse and worse sadly
jens, this time you are not right.he cant bounce back in few days,he fell in some 60kmh,he said he hurt his ankle and knee, plus bruises etc. there is no way he will attack in coming stages.
but...

FuerzaNairo!

I didn't think Quintana was sure to win before the Vuelta.

And I don't think he is sure to lose now that he had this disastrous day.

If he is as good as some people clearly think, he has a chance.

Very, very nice ride by Uran. I got that right.

Very, very nice ride by Valverde. I got that wrong!
are you for real? he is 3 and half minutes down on best rider of this generation,7 gt winner,he is injured, and he should be a domestique.how is he supposed to win?
