Pointless to attack so far from the end when the bunch is still that big. It would have been only a waste of energy.

Weather sucked too much to use energy on the climb. Sometimes we're excited to see rain to enliven races but it can also dampen the action . . .

So, just above 10 kilometers of the proper climb.
Not that close to 14, and more suited for Froome than Quintana, I'd say.
