Froome won't need a team, just like he didn't last year.

9km and riders hit the foot of Petit Forclaz.

Looks like Froome only has N. Roche as support around

Very weak team after Kennaugh was a non-starter. If he wins he will have to do it in a very un-bot way.

Yep, seems weak when you consider who is riding Tour de Yorkshire as well. I'd be a bit pee'd off if I were him. Or they know his form isn't there yet.

Who would he have taken to Romandie? Deignan, Lopez and Boswell still seem second rank climbers compared to his usual level of support. The problem is the Giro preparation and injury/fitness (Poels and Kennaugh). Time to sign even more upcoming GC contenders!

Deignan, Lopez, particularly the Lopez has always served him well in the last few years. Certainly better than who they've taken here, taking into account current form of Thomas and Kennaugh.

Break hits Petite Forclaz. At the pace the peloton is going I expect it to be down to at least half of the riders, if not more, by the summit.

Slim peloton, not many domestique to control the race. There's room to attack.

Most will hate this weather but some will love it! Let's hope the descent isn't as steep and difficult as the ascent.
