This Giro has been entertaining so far, even in the flat stages. Something interesting is bound to happen. Meteorite strike, sudden parade of elephants, something like that.

A borefest is impossible in this Giro.

I predict 4 flat tires for Aru, a collision between König and Uran, 2 surprising attacks from Contador, hailstones as big as meat balls, 22 crashes and Cheng Ji as winner of the stage after a sick solo.

If I calculated correctly, its not possible that jesolo is only 2 meters over sea level.
We know that Montecchio Maggiore is 55 meters over sea level, that this stage is 147 km long and that the average elevation gain is 14,05 %. That means we have to calculate (147 000 x 14,05)/100 + 55. That means Jesolo is 20 708 meters high.

Maybe someday there will be a Giro di Mars, climbing http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Olympus_Mons. A Zomegnan clone can be race director..

Meanwhile, we have reached the Venetian Lagoon. If the break makes it today there will be no flat stages next year.

It was on RAI. They even had a slo mo-close up of the incident to really show how big this incident was.
