That climb was...unspectacular !

There must be something wrong on the OSD since it shows 66.5 MToGo instead of around 38 ?

Poor from BMC. Left Rosskpf on too long. By the time Phinney took over they were overtaken.

I'll be on Wall Street tomorrow with a small group of people. If anyone's heading down alone, you're welcome to join us--we're all very friendly. If you're interested, PM me tonight for details.

Ruben Guerreiro :)

Lots of really decent results this year for a 21 year old kid.

I think he's on a very good team, hopefully he can progress into an awesome puncheur/stage-hunter!

I'm very happy for him and you. I think you're the person I 'know' who follows him with most enthusiasm. I also think he's in the right team. AXEON is full of talent but they cope well with it, it's a team where everyone gets their chance. I hope he stays with them for another full season.

Another sprint today I guess? No one seems strong or willing to split things up on any of the climbs so far this race.

I think we'll see a little action from the GC contenders, I read that the climb today has a 20% grade so it should split things up. I imagine most will want to save themselves for tomorrow though.

I have a - sort of - very serious question:
Yesterday they said that today's stage will be around 7pm, local time. When would that be in Denmark?
Trying to figure out if I should stay up, watch the race, and then go to bed.
Or go to bed, get up again when the race in on, watch it, and (maybe) get back to bed.

I have also been following him pretty closely for the past 2 years. I think he is the only kid in portuguese cycling that could reach a high level (similar to Costa), mostly because he is already out of the giant trap known as the portuguese cycling scene.

Still don't really know what he is best at, right now he seems like a punchier guy that also climbs fairly well. But well see.

Cool, it's nice to have people following him closely because I admit I haven't, and there will come the time I (and peaople n general) will have to ask questions about him. He also seems to me like the punchier type who can climb well, with a decent sprint. If he keeps improving I think he can top10 LBL u23 despite having DNF'd this year.

Is the Tour de Utah taking the Tour de France approach?

Mountains backload!!

Some race should do a MTT in the first stage and clean up the GC from day 1. LOL.

They don't want to risk killing the GC excitement on the first day, but I agree something should be different. Waiting until the last two stages for much to happen with the GC is boring. They talk up how mountainous the Tour of Utah is, but then they don't really take advantage of it until stage 6.

Easy solution:

Sprint stage

MTF

Doesn't even have to be MTF. The last stage to Park City is always fine. Last year the formula was similiar to that, it worked well. Too early to diss the race as 'taking the Tour approach' when only now did they do it. Likely Powder Mountain will be back next year. They were just afraid one of the big fish would be taking the lead too early like Danielson last year.

I really liked stage 3. The parcours gave different types of rider a chance. But Stage 4 seemed like a standard transition stage in the middle of a one week stage race when the GC is still pretty open. The climbs were too graduał to make a serious selection or give the breakaway a reasonable chance. The last km was quite nice, together with the (ultimately futile) fight for the yellow jersey, but overall the stage turned out to be a damp squid.

You can only really have 2 or 3 really tough mountain stages. I don't know the geography of Utah (apart from watching the race), but it seems you could find strategically placed climbs of varying difficulty to make the race interesting in any stage. The hill on the circuit in stage 1, the climb that made a bigger selection in stage 2, but gave sprinters a chance, a puncheur's course on stage 3, all worked quite well. But please put in a serious GC stage by Stage 4.

Quick question: Can Salt Lake City host a World Championships? Preferably instead of Qatar? This circuit looks really good.
