Quite a lot points to earn today, happy to see half of my team lining up:

VANMARCKE
MOSER
STANNARD
GAUDIN
STUYVEN
HAYMAN

I suspect someone with Cancellara will take the lead today.

i actually think that cancellara will be the main guy to beat today or stybar.

vanmarke looked super motivated last week.

Strade Bianchi
Brief results, more to follow.

17 teams have the winner, Stybar, and 17 have 4th placed Vanmarcke.
LightBing, Del1962, GeraintTooFast, Nepetalactone and JosephD all ombine the two, and of them, LightBing has the unique pick of 12th placed Vicioso to be probable top scorer on the day.

Pairing Stybar with Felline should be enough for DJW to retain his lead

Geraint Too Fast and Nepetalactone both have leaps of more than 10 places to reach the top ten, but Joseph D moves up even more: a 19 place jump. Asdfgh101, Rote Laterne and Oliveira also force their way into the top ten, and the podium places that Del1962 and Alykaptan have taken over were vacated by the spectacular tumbles of NairoQ and Not My Circus, who went from 2nd all the way down to 16th.

A week and a half off now while we watch some stage races, then a handful of Nokere Koerse points before the first really big points race: Milan-San Remo.

there is no broken collarbone for boonen.
so it might not be very bad for those who chose boonen.

Today's bad news for Tom Boonen is bad news for 9 teams: Alykaptan, Del1962, Hugo87, ItalianGigolo, Kazistuta, Leadbelly, LightBing, NairoQ and Scrool07.

But who will it be good news for?

Basically we have almost an impossible task now.

What Del says. This really ruins it for us. Well I'll just count my team with Stybar instead, since that would've been my replacement.

I don't think that's how managing works...

7 MARKUS Barry 24 1
8 JANS Roy 20 3
13 ZABEL Rick 8 1
15 THEUNS Edward 6 8
17 VAN LERBERGHE Bert 5 1

Not a surprise that the team with Boeckmans was top rider of the day: even less of a surprise when one realises that that team (Not My Circus) also features Jans and Theuns.

No other team managed to double up on point scorers today, so you can work out for yourselves who had selected whom.

Not My Circus, having dropped from 2nd to 16th after the last race, bounces most of the way back, to 5th. Batchuba moved up by 4 places, but only to 26th. A few other one place rises and concomitant falls, but nothing worth publishing a full table over.

Sunday should see more substantial scoring.

Milan - San Remo

Only two of the top ten finishers were selected in the game, here are the selected riders who made today's top thirty:

18 COLBRELLI Sonny 28 1
26 FELLINE Fabio 12 3
27 NOCENTINI Rinaldo 10 1

35 of the 130 riders who finished for 5 points were selected, among them Moser (25 teams), Haussler (23 teams), Stybar, Vandenbergh, Van Summeren (each 17 teams) and Pozzato (16 teams).

New rankings
DJW was joint 5th on the day, and so further extends his lead to over 100 points. Del1962 and LightBing, previously 2nd and 4th, had nothing but 5 pointers to their credit, and so they allow Alykaptan, Not My Circus and Geraint Too Fast to make progress within the top ten. Madrazo crashes into the top ten on the strength of a 5 place rise. Of the top teams on the day, Jancouver moves up 14 places and third on the day JSG moved up by 10, the second highest jump up the table. Comodoro, however, has more than tripled his total score on the strength of today's points, and yet only moves up one place, to second last.

Scrool07 is the uniquely wise/lucky manager to have included Wallays (this one, anyway: Jancouver has his younger brother)

Points earned today
Picking the day's winner was not enough to be top scorer on the day, as Joelsim had not only Theuns and Van Kiersbulck, but also Bystrom (a unique pick). Los Brolin paired Theuns with another unique pick, Benoot, and Not My Circus also beat the remaining Theuns teams by including Tsatevitch and Jans.

New standings
No points today for DJW, who like Geraint Thomas on the Poggio, had momentarily looked like his lead might be decisive (or at least enough so to get a Eurosport commentator excited), and Not My Circus is now hot on his heels, and up one place. Asdfgh101 and Rote Laterne each take a substantial Theuns-powered leap, to 3rd and 4th respectively, while Alykaptan slips from 2nd to 5th, and Karaev usurps Oliveira farther down the top ten. The days top scorers move up by 15 and 14 places, but not yet to occupy prominent positions, while third on the day puts some distance between Los Brolin and his former last place.

A busy week: check back tomorrow, Friday and Sunday.

Classica Corsica

It was dubious as to whether this would merit inclusion: it won't have made much difference either way by the end of the game.

The one notable thing was the continued good value of Felline as a pick: at present he is outscored only by Stybar (among selected riders)

7th, Felline, 24 points for 3 teams (DJW, our leader, Italian Gigolo who moves up 1 place, and Scrool07, who moves up three positions)
15th, Konrad, 6 points for Los Brolin (no change in rank)
18th, El Fares, 5 points for Oliveira (no change in position)

That's all: lots more points due tomorrow in Harelbeke

E3 Harelbeke

For many, the main significance of today was not the points won, but the loss of chances in the weeks ahead.

But first, let's deal with the positive side of things. We have some popular riders among the high scorers

Points earned today
Despite not picking his near-namesake (no-one else had the day's winner either), Geraint Too Fast is a fitting top scorer for the day, by quite a margin. 10 or the 12 riders in his team scored, and the four top ten finishers that made it into our teams all made it into his.
Asdfgh101 lacked Vanmarcke, but had three of those four top ten men, and so managed second above those who combined Stybar and Vanmarcke (Del1962, Nepetalactone, JosephD and LightBing). Madrazo also had three of those 4 big scorers, but the one he missed was Stybar.

New standings

DJW had a good top ten position today, and holds onto his lead, but only by a single point, and asdfgh101 is the only other team within 100 points. Despite the large number of points won today, most of the highest scorers today were already high placed (not least because the Stybar-Vanmarcke combo was also the key to top points in Strade Bianchi) and so there were not huge positional changes. Akuryo, Amis Velo, Joseph D and Jancouver, with jumps of 12, 11 and 8 are the biggest risers. Not My Circus suffers her second spectacular fall from 2nd, this time to 10th, and Karaev drops back out of the top ten, replaced by Nepatalactone.

Gent-Wevelgem

A great afternoon's entertainment to watch, but will it have been as breathtaking in its effect on our little game?

Scoring riders
Some fairly popular riders getting good points, but no-one behind the Krisstof/Sagan group bothered finishing (and in those conditions, I wouldn't balme them), so there are very few 5 pointers today.

Points today
Of the 12 teams that selected Paolini, who is already sure of being one of the best percentage returns in the game, six combined him with Vandenbergh: Akuryo, Alykaptan, DJW, GP Blanco, Not My Circus, and Tom-Jelte. However, that pairing was not enough to prevent a second successive top score from Geraint Too Fast, who has Paolini, Vanmarcke, Roelandts and Oss. Honorable mention also to Madrazo, who had 4 of the 8 riders ahead of the peloton, but missed Paolini.

Standings
Long term leader DJW by no means had a bad result today, but not good enough to hold off Geraint, who has had a week even better than that of his namesake. Asdfgh101 was one of the more successful non-Paolini teams, so is able to hold on to his podium position, while Search, GP Blanco and Tom-Jelte gatecrash the top ten, evicting Del1962, LightBing and Nepetalactone. Farther down the table, Bathuba and Comodoro have double digit place rises.
