I'm all for neutralizing a race when riders crash. I hope doctors demand this every time with a big crash. But please give us consistency.

It has nothing to do with that. If all riders except Froome crash, but they have doctors and ambulances available, the race keeps going. Seriously, THINK!!!! READ THE RULE!!!!

So you're saying that the ambulance would get there faster if the riders don't ride?

No, I'm saying that if the riders don't ride nobody will crash.

Rhub, there were two crashes, nearly 15% of the peleton was affected, and there were a number of very seriously injured with insufficient ambulances to deal with so many injured at the same time. This is no longer the 1930's, it was the right call.

Of course I understand that the crash was bad, but I've seen much, much worse and the race went on. Nobody is saying it's the 30's, but this crash didn't warrant a neutralization of the race with all the ambulances engaged.

I mean they're still not racing yet.

NEUTRALIZED racing because of lack of ambulances. Organizers are liable if a second crash happens and now ambulances are present #TDF

I guess sometimes the organizers have to protect the riders from themselves - if one of the Sky or Astana riders ahead would have crashed then there would have been no medical assistance. I can understand that riders might be disappointed, but ultimately the organizers are responsible for their safety

There was no more breakaway when the race was neutralized, ffs! They had been caught before the crash happened.

How is it possible they didn't have enough now? I've seen worse crashes in the tour. Especially in the first week you need to be prepared.

The organizers still haven't said why the race was stopped. Guess they're still trying to come up with a good reason since: "Cause I wanted the tough Spartan who took himself out get back into the race" doesn't sound very nice in the press.

I would imagine that it is extremely rare that they simultaneously need to use as many ambulances as they did there.

Sky seems to have learned a little bit from last year, very well organised at the front.. Tinkoff Saxo need Valgren, Tosatto and Benatti to step up and move to the front.
