I really enjoyed the last 20km of that stage last night. I was flicking around with my TV, trying to find the DVR recording of Eneco stages 5-7 and stumbled across this. What a pain for Rohan Dennis, but chapeau Phinney.

Pfssttt. Phinney is just world class. The guy can win in every situation.

Rode himself into form like a true talented champ, come next month he's got a serious shot at Richmond.

Bookwalter obviously doesn't care about the most top tens in a season without winning classification! Seems like a lot of riders aren't suited to these high altitude fast paced climbs.

Wow Dennis did a real job of work there to set up Bookwalter. BMC strongest team here for sure!

I was wondering if that extremely skinny rider on the back of the leading group was Hugh Carthy... and it was! Well done to him.

An extremely skinny rider; well... that narrows it down...

I kept expecting/hoping to see a red and white figure bopping his way back towards the front. But... no.

Sure, he is extremely skinny, but so are a lot of other riders.

In the front group he was quite noticeably skinnier... if you were watching the race.

CAS simply cant handle altitude. He cracks every time it rises to over 2000m.

Has the field for this race always been so weak???

The only class GC rider I see is Kreuziger, and he's a stretch.

The Tour of California field was so bad this year that I didn't attend the epic Mt. Baldy stage, which I loved doing in 2011 and 2012 with 1000s of fans lining Mt. Baldy Road (although not this year), girls in bikinis, people ringing cowbells (for the recreational riders like me that did the ultimate climb 1 hour before the pros) and fans offering beer and wine to the rec riders.

Does America miss The Controversial Lance Armstrong that much????

I was. Though admittedly while also doing other things on my computer, and the video wasn't the best quality.

Well... he's not exactly used to it, we haven't got that around here!

Caja Rural continuing their impressive season. Great performance by Carthy and Roson (why isn't he picked for Avenir???). Ready to tear up the Vuelta next.

What level is this race? What level is Avenir?
Maybe he was simply picked for the highest level race because he's just that good.
