Not even surprised anymore, how amateurish cycling teams are in their preparation before stage. They put whole team on the front to work and does not have slightest idea what a finish looks like.

More like the official roadbook being complete rubbish

If diehard fans are using the internet to find more detailed information about the stage then you'd think the people being paid to do this for a living would be able to use Google. Don't the riders use technology to get precise detail of their training rides? Even casual cyclists do that.
I think it is the job of the Director Sportif and the rest of the support staff to review the stages and come up with a plan. Which is what you see in the race. It is the reason for a team, a think tank. If the riders spent their time to reconnoiter the finishes of the stages of the races they participate in, they wont have time for much else.

Sure worked for Valverde.
On the other hand; if Sagan had known it was that hard he probably wouldn't even have tried.

Valverde said he googled the finish this morning using Google maps...and he is going for GC !

Are you surprised about that?

Riders dont study anything about parcours... that is usual, it is more than the average to see the climb in google street view, as Valverde did.

if sagan was placed better in final k he would've won. definitely not too hard for him nor on paper beforehand I would say
