Kirby during the highlights. "Chaves crossed the line and blessed himself and we blessed ourselves to, I mean, we thanked ourselves for tuning into today as well."

More than Valverde that has allready won, what is really worrying is the performance of Katusha & Purito.

I mean that seriously, I can imagine that Dumoulin wins the vuelta. He climbs extremely well, he is a better TT rider than any other gc contender and he has already a decent advantage on guys like Aru

Maybe I missed all the races where he climbed well on mountain stages like this Vuelta has?

Chavez again,he's really flying at the moment.Impressive ride for Dumoulin too.Another missed opportunity for Valverde&J.Rod.

This is not an missed opportunity for Jrod. Look at how mant riders finish together. This is just a Bala-finish. Not steep enough for Purito.

Good decision by Katusha to let the boni's (and win) grab by some outsiders. A win by Bala would be the most worst outcome.

Prime Purito 2012 style had eaten this one. He coulda won 6 stages that year, I dare say easily, and the overall if not for him playing it conservatively and not gapping Contador even more.

All the contenders thinking about that Andorra-stage and stages 14-17 and thus are looking to peak a little later it seems, which is smart. But I say Chavito can hold on as long to ITT if not for a crack in Andorra and/or stage 16. Rest of the stages are 'relatively' easy.

Isn't it sad when bad things happen to good sentences. Or worse things happen to already bad sentences. :p

I've seen guys with worse GT palmares suddenly contending for the overall win.

I agree on that one. I dont like people defending Katusha's tactics and riding style over and over again, besides, Moreno and Purito seems a bit past their primes. They clearly WANT to try to win those stages (I mean, why not - its equally hard for everyone else..), but they simply dont have the legs. Will they get it in the high mountains? I doubt it really much.

Don't think the Tour guys can really peak anymore, just hang on to their form for dear life and hope they don't get deep fried, baked, cooked and barbequed, all at the same time

Prime Purito 2012 does not eaten this one. Look at Caminito del Rey. That's a real Purito finish, and he dropped Bala and Froome on that finish. So i will wait till Cumbre and Ermita, for example.

And he was on his limit in the stages Contador attacked him (Lagos, Cuitu, Ancares). So no way he could have got more time on Contador in the mountain stages that Vuelta. Yes, on Bola del Mundo, but he was already 2.30 back.

I fear for Chaves safety. Ivory hunters are tracking him as we speak.

I really like his smile :D

I thought Martin timed has attack well this time. He's just not as good as Chaves on these stages right now - on stage 2 he tried to follow when Chaves attacked and couldn't go with him

But just look at the stages we had.

- Caminito del Rey was a pure Purito finish, and he showed he was better then Bala, Froome and the rest. The team made a horrible mistake in the final.

- Frontera: Sagan 2nd, behind Valverde. That just shows it wasn't a finish for Purito.

- Sierra Cazorla: Good finish, but not hard enough. Typical Bala finish, so no chance for Purito.

Did we already get Valdepenas de Jaen? Or Mirador de Ezaro? Or Pena Cabarga? Don't think so.

If Dumoulin is within 5 mins of the GC leader before the start of the stage 17 TT, you can choose my avatar

Martin never disappoints.
You would think that he would learn. Why oh why does he always wait until it is too late on this type of finish?

He seems to be watching the other big favourites and then realising that the guy who has already gone is going to win, over and over again.

He tried to follow Chaves on Caminito del Rey but couldn't. No wonder he waited and hoped for Chaves to blow up this time.

He was going a lot faster than Chaves today, as indeed he would expect to. But he should also know that you can't give a strong outsider who has already demonstrated his form a twenty second gap on that kind of finish. Sitting back and watching Valverde and Purito until it's too late is silly.

What I don't understand is,

Why the hell didn't the whole peloton just follow Dumoulin, he was riding to save his jersey anyway, got within say 10 seconds in the last 500m, then the final sprint might have been for the win
