Dennis came home very strongly today, dosed his effort better than last year.

Jack Bobridge is missing from that finish list. Started hard and faded to finish 10th.

Do you know why DurboTurbo didn't start the ITT?

No point, everyone knew Orica guys aren't close to Dennis/Porte. Saved himself for RR for Ewan.

He really doesn't have much competiton...Durbridge and Hepburn should have participated in ITT.

Gerrans is competition for Ewan on this course.

that's what obviously happens to riders when they leave team sky.

Lol...sometimes maybe. In this case I think it was expected. Last year he was peaking for the Giro, this year he's peaking in July. His fitness isn't as high right now - he said so himself.
that was a joke and profound astonishment that no one expressed such a predictable thought so far. :p richie's usually regarded with a sectant 'love' on here.

Ewan is in white hot form right now though, and his team is protecting him beautifully. If the race is aggressive Orica will ride for Gerrans but if it's a sprint, nobody will come close to Ewan. Jones, Sunderland and Von Hoff are the only ones capable of coming close in a sprint unless someone has fired a rocket up Leigh Howard's backside.

Dennis almost certainly IS the premiere AUS male TTer at this time. Porte ....... has always been variable. Durbridge and Hepburn at best probably would knock over Porte more often than not but it may well be that their race program for this year is centred around them making this a priority for this year.

I have no idea what Durbridge's race schedule but Hepburn, he may not be seen on the road for much of the year given his return to the AUS men's teams pursuit for Rio so he's highly unlikely to have done the TT prep; likewise with Edmondson who is also part of the T/P squad.

Is the road race this morning?
Any estimated hour to finish if so?

I can't give an estimated finish time, but; The woman's road race started @ 8:00 am (their local time). That's 20 minutes ago. The men's race will start in just under 4 hours at 12:00 pm (their local time.) The men's course is 183 K...I'm not sure how long it'll take them to finish. Last year Haussler did the same course in 4:47:24

I'm in the USA on holidays so for the first time ever (at this time of year) I have to search for an overseas streaming service. If anyone finds one that would be much appreciated!

Van Der Ploeg, Von Hoff, Haas, Clarke and McCarthy I think will prove the biggest threats to Ewan and Gerrans.

Ewan will drop these on the last lap, Gerrans and him will have to work pretty hard against each other for one of them not to win, although they don't quite have the last lap depth anymore. Potentially Porte/Dennis/Meyer/Clarke/Haas against just the two of them.
