Makes you wonder what might have been for Bardet if:

a) He didn't get tangled with a team mate and so lose time.

b) He worked with Pinot instead of against him and so take more GC time.

Anyway, still a great ride by him here. Looking good for the TdF.

He should just be happy with second.

If A, yesterdays stage would be different. If B, todays stage wouldn't be the same.

Henao was the last one.

My point being that there was a period when he had nobody with him, because Contador dropped them all.

And it goes without saying that Froome is still looking out for Porte and Porte for Froome. Will Froome look out for G or Porte at Tour ?. Decisions decisions.

I'm quite curious as to how you're allowed to stay on this forum. Do you have photos of the mods or something?

Not content with being a constant bully towards other posters, you're abusive towards riders as well. Just what is the point exactly?

I'm glad to see Porte lose out to Martin too. They're chalk and cheese as riders and it's easy to like one over the other, without resorting to abuse.

Porte ?

Porte should have ridden with Contador when Bert attacked ....waht was he sittign around with froome for ...Does he not know they are in competition

Still in master/slave mode

He will probably hear a thing or two from BMC management. They are not paying big bucks to sponsor a proxy domestique for Sky. Sky passed on the salary to BMC but keep the services. He should either cut those ties and be focused on BMC goals when in the race or pay back the money.

Froome now equals Nello Lauredi, Ocaña, Mottet and Hinault as a three-times winner.

Fitting, he's been the dominant stage racer since 2012

Yet Nibali and Contador have both won more GTs since 2012 (including 2012).

Two of Nibali's wins came from the Giro. Giro winners rarely go to the Dauphiné after that, so he's never had much of a chance to win it.

But Nibali and Froome have faced each other several times and Nibali's only ever beaten Froome at 2013 TA (well and 2014 Dauphine I guess), and that was due to his superior descending in the wet, along with good tactics. But it's not like rain is usually a factor in the Dauphine

Nibali already distanced Froome on the uphill part in the T-A of 2013. And Froome would have gotten his ass kicked in the Tour 2014 anyway. He'd be minutes behind after the (wet) cobbles stage. And last year Nibali wasn't exactly at his normal level. He also doesn't care for the Dauphiné. He's more motivated for Italian races, like the Tirreno-Adriatico. He rarely does well in other one-week stage races.

You can't discount a defeat because his opponent got it through superior descending ability in bad weather and having good tactics!!

Seems you both had same opinion of the race today lol. Just different way if putting it

I'm not discounting it at all. In fact he lit up the race and made it memorable, and I'd much rather watch someone win like that instead of a 2km uphill sprint effectively.

But rain isn't usually a factor in June in France (Dauphine), and I was replying to a comment that said Nibali's not won the Dauphine due to him targetting the Giro.

I love Porte, to me is the best ever domestique ( i´ve seen riding), but what i ve seen in this race is shameful. I reaaly didn´t like what i´ve seen this days in the dauphiné by him.

I love him, but i love sport and i´v seen something very weird. Today when Contador attacked, and Froome stay alone, i can´t understand what happened. Sincerely i have to say this... Glad he lost the podium, because that was nothing, that is not a sport, that is not the way of riding of a guy who wants to le a team leader.

Shame on you Porte.

To Froome, chapeau, he is a unique rider, without a doubt, and to Contador another chapeau. Winning or loose it he is Contador, and he fights.

Bardet 2nd - He wasn't even in the best 5 performed riders in the race - Don't understand the criticism of Porte - Did what he needed to - That is sticking with the favorites in the climbs - Its not important whether he comes 3rd or 4th.
