Nibali attacked just before the flattest section of the climb. I'd like to know if there's anybody at Astana looking at the profiles.

Actually flatter sections are not a bad spot to gain a lot of time as the speed differential will be bigger if you've got good legs. Typically the gaps are not huge on the steepest climbs like the Zoncolan because the top guys are stuck at the same speed.
