Spanish commentator keeps saying sentences like "very interesting bet by Movistar, "they're climbing at a decent pace", "this is a very seious pace they're setting"... While the time difference keeps growing exponentially every mountain pass. He really has to have something very good to smoke... ahahah.

We still have to wait until Giau to see what the bunch offer us. Meanwhile, I'll enjoy these sights in these beautiful surroundings... grr

Well, I guess I am pro critique and contra unfounded assumptions, just like everybody else.
There is nothing wrong with complaints about tactics of certain riders or teams, but there is a lot wrong with that kind of complaints just based on wild guesses and not on facts or some kind of knowledge of racing and how it's done.

It took me quite some time to filter out the comments that prove there are people here who actually know something about cycling (let's say months), but while I understand your previous post, I guess people's comments sometime seem to be harder as always with digital communication.

Yeah, most of them are in Trentino proper.

Only major Giro climbs in South Tyrol I can think of are Kronplatz, Gardena, Alpe di Siusi. Sella and Tre Cime are on the border.

Tre Cime are in Veneto. Near the border, but definitely not South Tirol. All the other passes (also the ones cited by staubsauger), true.

They don't really use much of Trentino outside of the area they're using today I think. Some major climbs further south that (almost) never feature in the Giro

movistar cant even put a fierce pace at the front - Amador and Valverde cannot work,Betancur is out of form,they have one guy out so they are left with Visconti,Sutherland,Suterlin and Rojas to pull which is not good enough for a mountain stage,none of those guys is a good climber and Visconti was in the break yesterday

they simply dont have the personel for anything other than controling the race, its up to Astana if they want to up the pace

Yeah, I noticed this too, even on one of the first climbs he seemed to be rocking a bit. He could lose big time today, if it's actually an indication of how he's feeling.

Yeah, I know. It's just there are so many whining comments that doesn't necessarily make any sense for me. On the other hand I should remember that not everyone has been watching cycling on a regular basis for the last 15 years

His name is Konstantin Sivcov. No Kastantsin, Kanstantsin or whatever else.

Канстанцін Сіўцоў in Belarusian. That transliterates exactly as Kanstantsin Siutsou.

Now, he may be a Russian speaker and his actual name might be Константин Сивцов/Konstantin Sivtsov. But then, this would need to be established. Can't just say the Belarusian transliteration is wrong and leave it at that.

Gonchar fought for years to get his name listed on TV and official documents correctly. No dice, still got listed as Honchar.

Several times we had the ludicrous situation of a guy explaining into the microphone for the millionth time that it's Gonchar with a G while the caption on the bottom lists 'Serhiy Honchar'
